Alrighty Gents! Ben and I were scoping out a possible field that we could airsoft on. As the title explains, it is an old abandoned airfield that with enough work put into it could make for an excellent and authentic field of play. My words don't do this place justice. Make your own judgements based on the photos! A view of the hangar and partial runway Inside of the hangar Behind the hangar -- There are other rooms back there! Missile Bay (really its a boiler room) A view of the vast field outlying the airfield. Picture is really crappy quality, my apologies. It may be hard to tell, but this area is very hilly. A very good location to have a battle Also I should note that there is a beach on the outskirts of the airfield. I'd doubt its playable, but it adds to the effectiveness of the terrain

I'll try to head out tomorrow, and get some more pictures with a camera of better quality.
For those of you who have attended the F&B battles in the past, this is about five minutes away from the beach landing site. The hangar is located at historic Fort Sheridan (also, the first fort General Patton was stationed at), and it was, for a time, used as a golf course.
It has since been closed down, and now is a vacant structure. I have always been told that it is unincorporated land, and have used it for many a film. Before we engage in a battle there, I would, of course, double check to make sure all permission is obtained.
That being said, it is a fantastic field, with wide grassy expanses, several large knolls and hills, a wrap around road, and, ofcourse, the hangar and storage building seen. The scenario possibilities are literally endless.
Innocent and I were thinking of possibly utilizing this field for a winter event. Yes, a long time in the coming, but, to clear all the permission needed (especially so near an active reserve base), and prime the field to the fullest extent possible, I'd like a good amount of time.
Let us know what you think of the pictures provided thus far, and know that more are on there way.

Get on it lol.
Also my USMC side is showing but this place would be perfect for reenacting battles like Wake Island, or Henderson Field at Guadalcannal, because of the varying terrain and the close proximity to a vast expanse of water!

Oh man! This looks like one of the best locations I have ever seen! I truly hope we can get to use this gem. Please keep us informed and rest assured that I am willing to help in any way in order to get us playing on that field ASAP. Thanks for your efforts!
