I think this is an airsoft only play field so no paint to bother with. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That's correct. This is an airsoft only field so no paintball mess to worry about. More information just added in the original post.

I've added the roster to my original post and updated some details. So far we're up to 21 players not including the Tiger tank and its crew, which is scheduled to be at the event.

Errr, ahem... about the Tiger. It won't be there at the event. I just returned from three weeks away for Reserve duty (retirement now looms ;D) and had access again to my email and Will was willing (no pun intended) but I couldn't foster (okay, got me on that one ) the nerve to insist he drive all the way from MI to MN for a five hour skirmish on rented land. The better course of action will be (and we both agreed) to have them attend the Neillsville event in October. That should be 2-3 day event on property that is controlled by MOA. That will allow much more time to see the capabilities of their engineering team. New changes that were announced and reported complete are steel tracks, a changed wheelbase, a change in main armament (must be to nerf firing tube vice paintball firing) and a redesigned turret that is roomier and more aesthetic. So the event is still going to be fun but without the big unveiling.

I really enjoyed myself yesterday and for a short 5-hour, rented field event I don't see how it could have went any better. Ahh, well just one area. Safety glasses are safer in my opinion since you tend to wear them all the time and they just look better. Having the full seal goggle rule sucks but that's the attorney's fault. The field host, Doc, his referee Tiny, and Doc's son (or was he Garrick's son ) were friendly and great hosts. Thanks Garrick and Udo for adding a quality event to MOA's schedule. I liked the field a lot. As was said it was a nice open wooded area and movement was pretty easy and there was the Fort, an imposing man-made two storied ground built tree house that was fun to defend and attack. The play was fast moving and sportsman-like. We had three skirmishes. The 17 players broke down into 7-German, 6-Russian (whose impressions are looking good) and 4 nicely turned out partisans. The first two skirmishes we split the partisans two each on each side. The last skirmish placed four partisans in the fort and at the beginning of the skirmish they flipped a coin to see what side they would fight for and that ended up being the German side so what can I say, we had 11-6 and the six had to attack. Pretty easy win but the Allies still manged to put some pressure on. The first skirmish was a meeting engagement and there were two objectives to be taken and held. One was the fort and the other a natural fallen log bunker. They were out of sight of each other and presented the commanders with the problem of holding both while the other side could concentrate forces for an assault on one of them. The Germans took the Fort and spent the remaining hour pressing the Russians who had raced to the bunker. In the end, several Allied failed attempts at the Fort resulted in the German victory as the defenders at the bunker were overwhelmed and the Germans held both objectives when time ran out. I used the MG-42 for this battle and was positioned on the second floor of the fort. Ammo was no concern and I gave the Ultima a workout and had a blast. A couple of compatriots, Robin, (a partisan handy in the kitchen ) and Kerrick provided my supporting members and we sent the rest of our force to take the bunker. I lived without being hit the first skirmish. For the second skirmish, we just switched respawn point with the other side and ran the same battle. This time, I decided with Garrick's approval as he was the German leader for the day, that we would let the Russians take both objectives. The fort was closer to them and I figured they would rush there and then head for the Bunkers after leaving a small force behind to protect their gain. We sent our sniper, Alban to scout out the bunker and send some fire in that direction and the rest of us (8-men) approached the fort on a slow sweeping flanking maneuver. I believe it was defended by three Allied troops, Tom, Alex and one other. We lost two men on the attack and our grenades did the rest. Pretty attack. Then we left our own holding force and started again to attack the bunker with the remainder. That was a mistake because after we captured the bunker the respawning Allies took the fort. This time however, Udo, the Allied commander decided that half a loaf of bread was better than none and held all his defenders at the fort. This skirmish ended in a draw. The Russian defenders were dug in like ticks on the backs of sewer rats. The third skirmish was all about the coin toss and the Germans won it. For this skirmish the fort was required to win. It was never in doubt. On the personal side, I have to still work on the MG-42. One and one-half skirmishes into the day it reverted back to finicky performance. I still have some ideas and if those don't work I'll just get new internals and do to it what I will be doing with the MG-34 when it gets here. During the second skirmish when my MG gave up the ghost I was left to fend for myself with Garrick's pea shooter Baretta pistol. That didn't work so well and in CQB at the fort I got my nose smacked but good. Good thing the wife is away this week. Ouch. I also discovered a big 8mm welt on my shoulder when I got into the shower. That was courtesy of Tom's hot little gas m1 carbine. Nasty little rifle. I want it. These worked great. Now we need T-shirts too. If anyone in my squad needs a kill rag see me at Neillsville. At games conclusion most everyone drove into Rochester for a meal at Perkins and we got in a little camaraderie. Get ready for Neillsville folks. It is going to be a super event if everything pans out.

While I did bring my camera, I think I had the batteries in the charger backwards all night and so it wasn't working. Cpl_Mills was there however with his camera and I think he got some shots (probably all great) and we just have to wait for him.

That's good feedback, Binary. As the Soviet with a slung PPSh, I keep trying to tell these guys to stop the "bad ass" poses for group shots.

Sorry, I was just holding the gun for the picture. I just realized it's the low-ready position.
Training does become second nature . . . far out.
Well now that I have a sling for the 40, I will sling it in pics. The next one will be totally casual, I swear!
Or maybe we should do a peel-out . . . ;D

I'm not upset about the pics at all or being peevish. Just a personal observation more than anything. I'm in this for the gaming, not the glamor shots

I had a great time. My favorite moment was in the second battle, when I assaulted the fort alone from our respawn side. I passed some dead Russians, on my way up hoping the krauts wouldn't notice me coming right away. I got behind a big tree when the MG42 opened up, I fired back and the kraut would duck down, I received some fire from the ground, and I got caught up in fire fight between the MG and the guy on the ground. I noticed a third kraut making his way toward me on my left, I fired at him but the MG42 bullets were too close for comfort so I had to fire back at him from the other side of the tree, I was receiving fire from the German on the ground, so I turned my attention to the kraut on my left, after a couple of bursts I killed him. I looked around the right side of the tree and saw a German run to the right, I jumped up and ran to my right, the kraut opened up, I fired back, he then retreated and I advanced after him, he and I exstanged fire when I heard the MG42 gunner call for reinforcments, I ran toward the Fort, I grabbed a tree to help me swing to my left, after a couple of steps I tripped falling into the fort. I noticed a German to my left so I turned as I was falling Thompson pointed right at him I yelled "Bang"! Next thing I see is Sarg's mug in the window. the rest are here s240.photobucket.com/albums/ff92/2ndrangers/Operation%20Doppelkopf/
