I have heard mixed reviews from owners from very pleased to very disastisfied. They are very very inexpensive and I suspect consistency is not one of their virtues. Some are probably pretty good while others are poor. At the price of a CA SAW you could buy 3 A&Ks, so WTF? I certainly get the impression they are of equal or better quality to the STAR M249. The matreials are somewhat less well done but functionally they do what a SAW is supposed to do and that is put a lot of rounds down range.

I have had one of these for about two months now and my overall review is positive. I used it as my primary in one event, a friend borrowed it for half another event and it saw some use in small skirmishes. I estimate six or seven thousand rounds through it. As mentioned the price is very good (I got the one with the aluminum case for $300). I feel the hop up is somewhat inconsistent, but by no means terrible. I had the included box mag jam on me once, but it was an easy takedown to remove a stuck BB. The metal notches where the bipod 'locks' into the open position have noticable wear already. I have not been super careful with it, but I have not been diving to the ground with the bipod out either.

I have one and love it. That said, I researched it as much as possible and knew in advance all the tweaking that would need to be done. I found the gearbox to be much nicer on mine than previously given credit for, though the internals aren't super. I used a Modify Bore-Up set in it and other spare ver.2 internal parts I had on hand. As for the hop up, take out the nub and throw it away!!! Cut a piece of 12g wire about 1mm longer than the original nub and strip out the wire. The thick insulation makes a great replacement nub. The other issue I found with the hop assy, was the feed port didn't align properly with the mount in the reciever. I took an X-acto knife and carefully beveled the port until it made a nice funnel. Then take some 120 grit sand paper and roll it up and insert it into the main body of the hop where the nozzle enters and smooth it out. After these mods, the gun works flawlessly. Even with the work I did and upgrades, I still came in well under the cost of a CA M249.

Ah, yes, I forgot a detail with the hop up. Mine has to be turned all the way up before I get a flat trajectory. If I were using anything heavier than .2s it would not adjust far enough. My A&K was perfectly skirmishable out of the box, but like Ryn said there plenty of places for improvement.
