Hi,
First off I want to say hi. My name is Robert and I am new to the forums. I have been into airsoft for a while now and WWII reenacting for a bit longer. I didn't know there was a WWII airsoft community until a buddy of mine told me about the forum and of course I am really excited about it. One thing that has caught me eye on here is all the conversions. This really excites me because I love to convert weapons. I am in the process of customizing a WE luger and just finished working out the kinks on my M14 to M1 Garand kit.
Anyways the real question is how to go about converting a rifle into a 1903 Springfield. I have a highly upgraded TM VSR-10 (shooting 700+ FPS with .2g) and I want to convert it to the 1903 Springfield. I would like to have the A4 version so I could mount a scope on there.
How should I make this conversion? I realize I need a stock first off but will everything fit in there (after a few modifications) and will everything function properly? I have only seen a few topics on here about the Springfield conversion so I am looking for a little help and everyone's two cents on it.
Also does anyone know of a good reproduction M73-M73B1 or even a M84 scope? Doesn't even have to be a reproduction just something that looks very similar and I can get away with it.
Thanks for your time, Robert

First, outside of TN most people are not going to let you field a 700 fps rifle. Second. We have a WW2 scenario coming up in November over in Athens GA check it ouot if you can. Now on to your question. It will be a lot of work but you can fit the rifle to the stock yourself if you are fairly handy. I can convert one for you. It would be fairly expensive. 700.00 USD or 500.00USD if you provide both rifles. The VSR and the Springfield stock and metal work. You can check out my website www.voodoomachineworks.com for an idea of some of the conversions I have done. I'd like to repeat that I think most people can do this conversion themselves if they are fairly handy and have some basic tools including a dremel, but I am there for those that feel it is beyond them or would just perfer to leave the worrying to someone else. Regards, Dan

I can build you a rifle with your provided VSR-10 in under 3 weeks and at a cost of $475+ shipping.
Pm me if you would like to know more, the conversion would use all reall steel Springfield parts and you would have your choice between the A1 or the A3 versions. I also produce AEG M3A1 Grease gun coversions, Lee-Enfield No.1 MKIII and No.4 MKI rifles and will have an all metal Sten AEG ready to sell by August 21st.

Are you including a complete 1903 wood stock with that price? You must be getting 1903's for an awesome price.

Thanks everyone for the quick replys. My father owns a small woodworking shop so he has all the proper tools and knowledge to help me out on the conversion. If we cant pull it off I have quite a few options on who to pick one up from.
My question really is what do I need to start this project as far as the gun is concerned. I know I need the stock. Do I need a new trigger housing, barrel, etc. etc.
Again thanks for the quick responses

If your father has a small workshop you should be set. You will use the trigger guard for the 1903. Get the full stock set with all the metal fixtures that go along with it, including the triggerguard. You will cut down your VSR outer barrel right after the hop unit. The upper hand guard hides this and you house your now exposed inner barrel with a new outer barrel which can be fabricated easily from a correct size peice of copper or galvanized pipe. If you are going for the sniper version of the 1903 you will need the correct longer upper handguard but you will not need sites front or rear as it was meant to be scoped, and used no sites. You should be able to look at the many threads on here and apply those pictures to your conversion. The springfield stocks are rather thin and narrow but as long as you go slow you will be good. Good luck and keep us posted.
You can email me at dan@voodoomachineworks.com or PM me on here if you have any questions.
