Hi guys, My cousin wants to convert a Dboys Kar98 to a non shell ejecting springer. He is not on the forum and asked me if I could get some info on it. So in conclusion could one of you guys that has done it give me some simple directions. I also have some questions; Which gun is best for the conversion? Can the Dboys Kar98 bolt handle be used? Thanks ~sgttom

I would use the Jin-Gong BAR-10 as a base rifle, deffinatly a fanastic rifle as I have used several of them in Lee-Enfield conversions to people so far. I also plan on useing it for the K-98 rifle conversions I will offer next summer.
Its a great gun for the price, well built, great performer, and at a cost that wont break the bank.

I would agree with TommyGunner 100%, JG BAR-10 is definitly the base gun to use. It 100% VSR-10 compatible so is fully upgradable and it shoots around 420fps out the box. As for using the bolt handle? I would think that its definitly possible. I did a conversion of a Marushin gas shell-eject and used the bolt handle and complete bolt end assembly from the Marushin. See this thread for details of my conversion: ww2aa.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=technical&action=display&thread=2532I'd also recommend you look at the threads by Ersatzjack and Charleynovember who have both done some great VSR based K98 conversions. These are up-close pics of my bolt, you should be able to do similar with the Dboyi bolt parts:

I am currently doing this conversion, however I am not sure if you would want to use the plastic stock. I found it harder to work with, and "less forgiving" in a way. What i mean is, if you mess up, you have to use epoxy to fix it. I think if you put all of the work into making this gun, use a wood stock. That is what i'm using. I picked up a Yugo one for 30 bucks, so it wasn't too bad. The advantage of having the Dboys is you get all of the metal parts. Just watch out, the JG BAR 10 trigger does NOT fit into the Dboys trigger guard. You really should use the broken Dboys from Kapowwe, that's what i did, because you save alot. I didn't use the bolt handle, as i didn't know if it would be strong enough, but it looks like it will. Also, take your time with cutting the outer barrel. I didn't cut it short enough, and i sanded down the plastic handguard like someone on the British site did. For me, the plastic melted, and created a mess. I am going to order a new one of eBay.
