There were a few standardized hand and arm signal in the Army back then but elite units created and used their own. There is an excellent video on U Tube showing Vietnam and current hand signals. Follow the series of Battlesim videos The handsome RANGERS will take you through a fairly complete series of them.

I believe there are some in FM 21-100. The reason there aren't many hand signals is that they're primarily designed for actions made before contact. Once the Sh!t hits the fan stealth goes right out the window and directions are typically given with shouts (that is, if the unit doesn't know what to do automatically). I've never really felt I needed anything more than the basic hand/arm signals in a tactical, but you could surely improvise.
FYI: I think that hand/arm signals officially changed 2 or 3 times during the war. So guys trained at different locations and different times didn't all use the same signals.

On Battlesim there is a video tutorial on Hand and Army signals from Josh Warrne and I. The period is from my era during Vietnam and a mix of his contemporary ones but they stayed relatively constant over the years.
You could probably find it under U Tube Battlesim Recondo School The key with hand and arm signals is that units went with the standbys but created the subtle ones within their own small group. To actually make them useable you have to practice quiote a bit with the folks you intend to apply them with. My son and I got amazingly good at it. We'd practice in the car on the way to the every other week game days.
