Also, there are several people on these boards who have done (or are very close to finishing) M14 to M1 conversions. sgttom and Seff are the ones that come to mind. Ask them. Click

Its not the actual conversion Im worried about, i just thought that the wood would be easier to work with, and would better adhere to the handguards.

As stated the wood lower stocks work fine for the conversion and are not radically different than modifying the pastic ones except of course for the added expense. I have done ten or eleven version ones with modified M14 wood stocks.
