The War Department and Fallschirmjager Regt. 6 present: Jump to Destiny: A Clash Of Eagles A WWII military simulation June 5-7 2009 more information: www.thewardept.orgIn the early morning hours of June 6th, 1944 thousands of allied paratroopers filled the skies over Normandy as part of Operation Poseidon. This represented the airborne portion of the D-Day invasion. Despite bad weather, heavy ground fire and off-target drops the paratroopers fought on to victory. Jump to Destiny is a three day historical military simulation based on the historic Operation Poseidon. It is designed to simulate the preparation and execution of the invasion of Normandy from both the American and German perspectives. Jump training is provided by Airborne,Ranger and Special Forces qualified US Military personnel and a simulated drop kicks off the tactical portion of the event. Training is provided for both German and American units. American units will be trained in jump procedures, actions in the aircraft, airborne assault and assembly and authentic platoon tactics. German Units will focus on german language commands, anti-partisan operations, airborne operations (For Fallschirmjager Units) and authentic platoon tactics. This event is combined Blank fire and airsoft. Both reenactors and airsoft players are encouraged to attend. Attendees will be fed and billeted in period fashion.

We are putting the finishing touches on the reigistration process and want to insure it makes sense, is easy to follow and seamless. We'll announce before the fact when it will open up and what units one can sign up for.
At present the potential units are:

..I have a couple more questions.. How many do we have to have in our unit in order to get the unit discount? We have 4 of us coming up, will that be enough?? And also, our medic (the doc from last JTD) wants to register as a medic again, will he need to inform any of you before hand or just like last year when he showed up as a medic. Oh yeah and one more thing, I was hoping to go as a pathfinder this year cuz our unit is 504th 82nd but I saw that john had posted that you have to be a recondo school grad for that, was it like that last year, if not then what changed? let me know, cheers.. -Eddie

Young Blood -
Disregard the "unit discount". The event fee will be $50 per person. Each person will need to bring aprox. $10-15 cash to pay the quarter master seperately for meals/billeting. Each parent unit (which we will identify) will be responsible for meals, and you will pay them directly.
There won't be an option for "medic" in the registration process specifically, but you can always send us a PM over at The War Department expressing interest in special roles (gunner, assistant gunner, etc...). We will do our best to accomodate within reason if it maps to the scenarios/objectives we have planned. A medic definately will.
Pathfinder reqs are TBD. We are leaning towards Recondo qualified at the moment, but will make a decision prior to registration going live. The mission of the pathfinders maps very well to the skill sets that folks who have attended Recondo have learned and demonstrated. The pathfinder mission to mark the DZ's is critical in our event, just as it was for real on D-Day. Last year the majority of the pathfinders were hand selected, and it turns out most had attended Recondo.

Once registration is officially up, all finalized decisions with regard to requirements will be formalized and a full FAQ section will be in place. Everything up to now including any comments or thoughts by me were speculative and are to be decided upon by the War Department. The pricing is significantly better than last year and we're counting on it positively impacting attendance.
We are also confident that the billeting and chow arrangements will significantly simplify the effort and expenses required by everyone while improving greatly their overall emmersive experience.

The enrollement is quite seamless and well set up. I enrolled today. It allows you to register for your unit, and allows you to pay in advance using your credit card or payPal. Very very well designed. The coolest I've seen thus far for an event. I am so stoked for this event!!!! Can't wait for D-Day and the "night of nights."

There is some finalized debate regarding age restrictional and documenting parental approval. It's an issue we hope to resolve for the younger players. Deacon is right on the cusp as he turns 16 that month. I'm confident we'll have things worked out. We want to make sure we do right by everyone and protect all participants to the degree possible.

A solution for the young uns is in the final tweaks and will hopefully protect us and the integrity of the event by insuring protections and standards of deportment so youthful exubberance or inexperience won't detract from the adult experience. Most of the younger players are great but it only takes a few to ruin the event for others and we who run the event have no time or energy to baby sit those who might require it. This is a pretty challenging undertaking with the night operations, extensive mission planning and training component that is so much a part of this event. Ask folks who came last year, it is a challenging event that requires maturity and preperation that a lot of adults aren't prepared to do well.
It is not an event that most Airsoft players would neccessarily enjoy. I know Deacon will be all over it and we'll hopefully ahev a means by which he's be able to come. Stay tuned!

Wow! That's good eyesight. I bet you always find Waldo. Where are they in the poster? In the top frames of four? I see Ersatzjack holding an mg but where's Gordak? Is he the first one? I don't think that is him. I think it is one of the guys from out west.
