Hopefully we'll have two MG-42s at the event. Plus an MG-34.

Mommy!
Note to Ed: Bring more awesome custom guns. I'll bring the tennis balls.
At least the FJ MG #'s are still on a fairly accurate level. I read that certain FJ units had TONS of MG34's and MG42's assigned to them.

William Tooth?
Also, does that camp rule mean that this event is going to be live all night (unless in the designated area) or did I misunderstand? That would definitely be cool.

I'll bring the tennis balls. Is he bringing a mortar? EDIT: I just saw mccalion's last post, never mind. A few .30 cals, mortars and bazookas.

William Tooth? Also, does that camp rule mean that this event is going to be live all night (unless in the designated area) or did I misunderstand? That would definitely be cool. For safety reasons we do not want live fire scenario’s running throughout the night. There are many deep and dangerous ditches, trenches, fake barb wire and other miscellaneous obstacles such as landmines that the cover of night will make nigh impossible to traverse safely. Therefore, we are not going to be running the event throughout the night- whereas players will be partaking in live fire combat. However, we fully encourage both side to post perimeter guards, scouting parties and run patrols etc. Simply posting guard duties throughout the night will truly add to the realism of boredom, anxiety and battle fatigue. During the last winter event the Germans posted 2 hour guard shifts. I partook. It was cold. It was boring for the most part. And it was tiring. It was part of the experience!!! We expect players that are camping on the field to fully participate!!! We expect the assigned leaders of both Armies to coordinate these activities during the night. I personally encourage that players on the field bring food that closely resembles what soldiers would have eaten to the game. The night event and camping will be fun. I always enjoy the night before the game! We try to make it interesting every time! Ask anyone that has came in the past.

Sorry about that. I fixed it. Attendance list updated. ....in addition to what Ray said...we also encourage you to get some shut eye! Yes, we will be conducting patrols and sending out scouting parties, but we also would like participants to have some time to rest up. Patrols coming in and out of the camps should try not to disturb those who are sleeping. Saturday is going to be a long day of fighting... -Sean

Glad to see you guys are having another summer Event, working in retail stinks as usually its tough to get weekends off in November and December! so I had to miss the bulge game.
I'm psyched for this one! It seems you guys are really keying in on the authenticity of the event, hopefully everyone will have an impression and we won't see any BGS jump smocks or paintball jerseys!!!!!! The US guys always look top notch!
I'll be traveling from NYC or Stamford Connecticut if I leave straight from work I may have some room if anyone would like to participate and doesn't have a ride we can maybe set up a pickup point somewhere along the thruway, I'll also be bringing my 4 person zelt tent, some wool blankets and a bunch of period looking rations.

3rd PzGr is also planning on a full field setup for camping. We'll have a zelt tent and try our hand at campfire cooking.

Yeah, it was embarrassing for us as hosts and for the German team to have had a player wear modern cloths under his uniform whereas it was visible in the film and in some of the photos. If you must wear any modern cloths, please wear plain white or plain olive green. Do not wear any cloths with logos etc on them. Especially if such clothing has the slightest chance of becoming visible. We DO NOT want such clothing to get caught on film or in a combat photograph; rendering the section of film or photo useless. We are going to be much more stringent this time around about uniform impressions. I know Sean and myself are really looking forward to capturing the feeling of WW2. I know that no one wants modern equipment etc. getting captured in their pictures and video. So please: No modern equipment on the game field. At least nothing that doesn’t appear authentic. I’m talking about pots, knives, spoons, forks, water bottles, water jugs etc. that do not at least appear to be authentic, should be brought into the period encampments or onto the game field. That means use your canteens or simply walk over to the social area for bottled water or modern food etc.

Alright cool!
I know the 3rd FJ will have maybe 4-6 Zelt-bonds. If both the 3rd PzGr. Guys and Gerry528 both have 4 man tents. We should then have three, four man tents. So we have enough sleeping space for 12 or more men! That is great!!!
How about the allies? I believe that Gordak (Sam) is bringing a large tent for the allies. However, I do not know how big it is or how many men it sleeps. So… if the allies would be so kind as to communicate to us what they plan on bringing for their encampment, I’d appreciate it. As I’m sure many of the other allies who plan on sleeping over Friday night would appreciate it as well.

With that many zelts we could build an 8 man! Check out this site: www.zeltbahn.net/tent.htmThough I think lots of small tents look better and add to the experience!

I think we should at least build a four man tent. Also, Gordak(Sam) is bringing two more pieces. And this brings me to a very important point. When you arrive Friday, feel free talk to whomever in the social area. However, we are not going to have people wondering about the field. If you wish to enter the game field Friday night. Please head to the encampment of your respective team. German players are welcome to set up their campsite and even more welcome to improve upon the defenses that are already in place. Allied players are welcome to set up their campsite and guard posts/MG nests on their side of the field. Please however do not wonder about on the Germans side of the field or through the German defenses. We do not want the allies aware of German MG-Nest locations, mine fields and other such defensive objects before the game on Saturday. Field maps will be handed out Friday and Saturday so that players can see where-about mission objectives are located. That is all for now.

were up to 32 players:) mccallion 33! My brother is coming. I will be making period rations such as: Milch Kaffee (single serve coffee and powdered milk) that will make one canteen cup of good ole' Wakey, Wakey Luftwaffe style. Single serve cans of Fleischkonserve (mystery Meat!) Packs of Knockenbrot (Hard bread) And of course dried sausage and fresh rye bread in period ration bags. I will be sure to make enough of them and These items will be period packed und available to all Wehrmacht personel in the German encampment with one exception! You had better not even think about warming or boiling on a modern propane stove or eating with modern utensils!!!LOL. Be sure to bring your mess tins, proper utensils, canteens Esbits and fuel tabs if not open fires and fingers will do! Here are some links to these Items Landser Outfitters is very well priced and you will receive your items within 3 days!!! Fuel tablets: www.landser.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1187Esbit cookers: www.landser.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1186Canteens: www.landser.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1320Mess Tins repaint it if you want: www.bayonetinc.com/store/product/77/M31-Mess-Tin-Blue-WWII-Pattern/Utensil kit: www.bayonetinc.com/store/product/81/Folding-Fork-Spoon-set/If you wish to buy some good edible period rations check this place out: reprorations.com/WW2-Germany.htmCheck out this page: www.dererstezug.com/LandserItems.htmand of course the infamous German Haircut!: www.dererstezug.com/GermanHaircut.htmLike ErsatzJack said its all about total immersion, I hate the saying "well its only airsoft this or its only airsoft that" I think the founders of this sport had it in their mind that this is WWII reenacting with weapons that actually shoot a projectile and that the authenticity should be kept to a high standard.!!! Lets make this an even that we will all remember and be proud of and lets be sure that every picture taken will look like it was taken in '43!!! By the way will there be any extra German weapons availabe to borrow? Since I have a Tropical Fallschirmjager kit which was commonly seen in Italy along with the continentals I may bring an extra person that has never experienced WWII Airsoft, I lightened my load and sold a couple of my weapons. One other question for you guys do you think the D-boys K98 is a skirmishable weapon regardless of the fact that it has ejecting shells? I was thinking of picking one up for myself and lending out my MP-40 to this individual since I sold my Tanaka G33. Thanks, -Gerry

I was thinking of picking one up for myself and lending out my MP-40 to this individual since I sold my Tanaka G33. First, let me thank you for offering to bring rations for the us Germans! Very awesome! I’ll talk with Sean and Burt about getting some of the proper camping equipments. However, I may be one of the guys using my fingures… HAHA!!! As far as the D-boy K-98. I will be using this very gun for this event. I have 65 shells. And two extra striper clips. The hop-up is very touchy… The gun needs a modification to the bolt in order to increase its FPS and make it useful in combat. If you get the full wood version you will need or rather want to re-stain the gun. But all in all it is an excellently cheap spare weapon to own. If you plan on using one. I’ll lend you some ammunition and spare stripper clips.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you how to modify the bolt.
Ok, ok. So… if you take the bolt out, look down the nozzle where the air is expelled into the barrel of the gun. There is a divider bar there. It is really just a pin. Remove this pin and fill it in with JB weld or by other means whereas both holes on either side of the bolt are sealed. You will get some FPS out of the gun this way.

Just pour some backing soda in the canteen and mix with water and let it sit for a while. But Never put it in the dish washer. it will ruin the canteen.

I use Rothco canteens they are very very close to the originals but not completely correct(cap chain and some have said they are shorter or wider or something) but are new. Others here will of course disagree.

This means that on Friday night the scouts/patrols set up should not wander far right? But Saturday night we can, or should we not scout around far at all, just patrol around the site? Also I have a standard US pup tent, but it is from the 80's is that alright to bring? Turnout is looking good, I can't wait for this event

Allied patrols should stay on their side of the ravine. Check out the map on page four of this thread. You can easily see the ravine.
