On behalf of the 334th Inf. Div. reenacting unit, we would like to thank you for all the hard work you have put into this event. I hope we can have this as an annual event every year. especially gerry528 for your hard work on everything! As a unit we wish to accommodate you with one our awards, if you accept, we would like to award you at the event. We plan to have a great time at this event and hope everyone else does to... -Tyler Hoffman Vielen Danke Herr Hoffmann! I will gladly accept anything you are giving! That is of course if I am still standing at the end ! I am happy you are joining us for this event, we are working to make it a memorable one for sure. Hopefully you can recruit us a few more Heer men for the event! Gerry

Gut, dass Sie akzeptieren die Vergabe Soldat! (Good, that you accept. for those who don't speck German.) We will be happy to pin it on you at the event. The Unit CO is very appreciative of all the hard work your putting into the event. Especially all the preparing for the event. This will be our first airsoft event. And so far, we are impressed with it. Many people in the back reenacting community think airsoft is lame and that its for the little kids. Well, so far this event looks as if it may be more accurate than some of the blank reenacting events ive been to. Also, its open to all ages witch is a good thing; many times the experienced reenactors don't want anything to do with young reenactors. Also, not to mention the fact there will be no drunk 45 year old men running around with fully functional firearms. Those two sometimes can get a little hairy when paired together. I will enjoy this event. As a group we are glad to have this event to go to! DankeSchon, Tyler Hoffman
P.S> does any one know how to make the special German letters on the Computer. Is it even possible?

ALL! FYI! On the premium which is post#1 on this thread, if you scroll down to the "order of battle" you will see that the military branches are separated, each branch has its respectable troops in rank order, come game day the ranking men will be squad leaders. This is on the premise that if you are displaying the rank that you have the leadership, skills and coordination that go with it! In the case of bigger units, for example the 103rd infantry division there will be multiple squad leaders. If you do not want this responsibility, please don't display the rank! -Gerry

Is it even possible? Tyler, Check this out: german.about.com/library/blcharcodes.htmAs a blank fire reenactor I love airsoft because you actually have to avoid a projectile and work tactically, distances in WWII airsoft to me are the same as in blankfire, how many Amerikaner have you shot at 300 yards (A very realistic distance for an 8MM Mauser Karabiner 98) that actually took their hits? Me I can account for 0! The only thing you will miss other than 45 year old drunks with working firearms are the sounds such as gunfire and rattling MG's. Lately groups have been incorporating blankfire into Airsoft, we unfortunately will not be able to do so as this field is fairly close to homes. The other thing is there are many young guys with excellent impressions (me not being one of them.. at least the young part! ), many not much younger than the brave men that actually fought during the second world war. It is a shame that more blankfire reenactors do not wanna get into WWII airsoft, they would surely love it, especially with the weapons available now. But I promise you, you guys will enjoy yourselves. Do you and your guys have period tentage? Zelts? -Gerry

"Lately groups have been incorporating blankfire into Airsoft, we unfortunately will not be able to do so as this field is fairly close to homes."
Gerry: Just wondering if you checked with Lester on this? I know there is a firing range across the street. While doing a work day for a Vietnam Event, some guys must have fired off 1000 rounds of live ammo throughout the day over there. I know they also hunt that property quite a bit. We have also used LOUD propane cannons during VN events. Just wondering. We have thought about incorporating blank fire into our Vietnam events for 2009. I'll be interested to hear about what Lester says.
Really shaping up to be a great event. Great work Gerry.

Hey Rob, Good to see you.
Thanks, we are trying hard.
It is actually an assumption on my part, I never did ask Lester. If gunfire is common there we may be able to do it. I'll ask Lester next week.

I've been "promoted" to Sergeant because my unit has just reached 4 people and 2 haven't registered yet. I can act as a squad leader.

But I promise you, you guys will enjoy yourselves. Do you and your guys have period tentage? Zelts? -Gerry Thanks for the link! Its a great idea to incorporate the blank firing into Airsoft, but i would only let it go so far. Its reasonable if you have an MG or an artillery piece. And i don't know if anyone else agrees, but i think the drinking takes away from the event personally. Its happened when some soldiers worked hard on planning a night raid on the enemy camp only to go through with it and get yelled at by all of the trashed, angry enemy soldiers. Also, as far as authenticity goes, the soldiers on the front lines in the war did go and get hammered every night... you had to be on your toes in case of an attack. But, i don't appreciate it when people look down on younger reenactors; they are the future reenactors. I try to surround myself with people who are willing to help anyone advice wise and impression wise. But I'm am positive we will all have a great time at this event. Yes, we do have Zelts, I am picking one up this weekend, There is only three of us going so we don't need more than that. Currently Our C.O., Me and 1 Grenadier are coming. i have been contacting other members of the group to see if they would like to come, so we may have more Germans! I lent 1 US Pup tent out to an allied friend to use in the allied camp. Also, i was going to use just blankets but what should we use for a bead roll? could i just use one of my American sleeping bags and cover it? One more thing, i have a spare shelter half I've always used as a ground cloth, will this be excepted in the German camp or no? Thanks, Tyler Hoffman

Bed roll??? Ground cloth??? We usually just sleep on our mantels with our issue wool blankets over us, if we are lucky we have a zelt tent to sleep in!
And as you see there are no alchoholic beverages permitted on the field!

For our Vietnam Events, we have gotten our highest number of registrations during the last two weeks before an event. I am sure we will see similar numbers here.
Really looking forward to this event!
