I am totally exhausted, but I must say, the world needs to know- IT WAS FRIGGING AWESOME!!!!! The first ww2 only event held by the 3rd FJ, was simply amazing I showed up Saturday morning to a HUGE crowd of Germans, Fortifications, long deep trenches, well placed fox holes artillery! an entire Town! multiple bridges, it was totally insane, a dream battle field! we fought all day long, and it was everything you want out of a ww2 event. The Germans outnumbered us pretty good, so we saw a hell of allot of action. Imagine ducking from incoming shells during a huge fire fight, it was so friggin awesome. Burt, Ray, Sean (congrats on you promotion to Feldwebel) the Land owners, the guy who filmed, and everyone else. Thank you so much, Ersatz Bros. drove all the way out to this! Thank you! I love those spring Kar98s what and Event! I'm editing the video I shot right now. Movies Ok, Ive uploaded the first movie, its non combat footage, but its kinda cool. (limited bandwidth, so save it to your hard drives) www.gordak.com/081707noncomsmall.wmvIll also put it on you tube here (not as good quality) www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhEAusAV8Fc-Gordak

Wow looks like it was a great event with people in pretty good to great impressions really looks good when you have it that way guys. If you had an exqul number of Allies then you had 30-40 players which is awesome for your first event and I am glad Gordak and the rest of the ww2aa crew went over and helped make it a great event. The MTO event looked great now this! I bet the national in Oct will be awesome aswell. I wish I could make some of these but I have a game of my own in Oct. and I am pretty much broke right now

Wow!!! I want to thank the organizers of this event, Josh (Burt) of Airsoft Corner, Sean (Warlord) and Majorray. Also it goes without saying that Sean's parents are owed a debt of gratitude for allowing us all to use their property. The event was run in an absolutely perfect setting. It had everything. Hills, deep-cut ravines allowing movement along the stream beds, a lake, a dam, bridges, an artifically constructed airsoft set (like a movie set for fighting on) and then there were real buildings that were period looking and not off limits. Sean was at work with his friends digging perfect rows of ditches back in the American sector so that an Ardennes like assault could be executed. Roads and manicured lawns with thick to medium foilage. It was just great. The weather cooperated too for the most part (rain on Friday night, but everyone managed to stay dry) and once again the organizers and hosts provided bottled water and there was a porta-potty available. The Allies were outnumbered and seemed less experienced but gave a spirited account and the Germans had some great moments of offensive action. For the most part the battles swayed back and forth and no side had the burden of attack placed on it more than the other. The scenarios were interesting. But far and away my impression of the French Resistance fighters was positive. They seemed to be very capable fighters and the rules governing their play were imaginative and fun. They didn't just fall in with the allies but were allowed to roam the lines as long as they were unarmed. They could spot therefore for the outnumbered and undergunned allies. They were very sneaky. Also they really put some effort in their impressions it seemed and will make fine additions to the line troops in months to come should they decide to take the leap. There was also artillery duels in this game. The mortar that biged brought for the allies sent a steady stream of tennis balls and smoke shells at axis troops while the axis responded with direct fire (water balloons) from their Pak40. The smoke screen laid down during the first allied advance was magic. I really had my vision impaired. The allies could get closer because of the smoke. I think that's where the mortar excelled. Mines and booby traps were present but largely negated by the presence of French Intelligence. I hope to go back the next time if you can organize a repeat performance. Oh, almost forgot. There were like two machine guns per side and even though they were not all up to functioning properly the sight of the arsenal present was worth the trip. My pics are below. I didn't take many group shots as I knew that they were gonna be available since we had a dedicated audio visual guy on hand. Who's busy and who's busy posing for pictures here? The dam bridge. A highly contested piece of property for most of the day. Observation in the direction of the airsoft village. The hills provided cover for the approach. The main mingle area with participants arriving on Saturday AM. Awesome air cannon. It really was a crowd favorite. Josh made this (still needs some cosmetic work) but it was crazy how well it functioned. The presence of artillery spiced up the scenarios. Another shot for scale. My expession says it all and indicates my feelings for this one. Great work everyone.

Oh wow, I didn't see this thread and accidentally posted an AAR in East Coast Discussion. Whoops!
I am so glad and so relieved that the event went smoothly and most if not all of you had a great time. We did a lot of last minute field work to prepare for this game, and it paid off big time. Hopefully we will be able to host another game like this one!
For this event, we were originally going to have a little bit more complexity in our scenarios, but we decided to keep it simple. We wanted to let people spend more time fighting and having fun than having to worry about complicated objectives and points. I also hoped to allow everyone to get more acquainted with the field and its terrain.
There were a lot of props and extra equipment that contributed it all. As well as the artillery support on both sides, there were also working field phones, camo netting, sandbags, and mines (courtesy of Adreon, our cameraman) All of this added an extra element I have never seen in other games, and I'd like to thank Adreon, Josh, and Ed for making it possible.
But most of all I need to thank Ed Illnicki from High Energy paintball, for lending us awesome props and fencing, Chris Illnicki for helping me with the field almost all week, and of course my parents, Marilyn and Sean for giving the green light for the whole thing and providing us with what we needed to pull this off.
Yes I know, I rant, It ain't the goddamn academy awards, but not giving them credit here would be a sin.
I hope everyone enjoyed the event and I hope to hear your stories and experiences!
P.S. I will have pictures and LOTS of video on youtube within this week. In the meantime though, feel free to post your own.

What a great time and what a great event. My thoughts.. As you know, my brother and I headed out for the event on Thursday and took turns driving and napping for fifteen hours. We got there and got a warm welcome from the land owners and the organizers. After setting up camp on Friday, the camaraderie and bonding with other players began and our second night of sleepless discomfort began. You see, Friday night was stormy and it rained until the wee hours of the morning. That didn't stop a good number of players from conducting night manuevers and from sitting around a fairly healthy bonfire. On Saturday most the Americans showed up with Gordak and the battles began. There were four main skirmishes and each one had a particular flair and fun to it. As has been stated, the organizers did a lot of prep work and the field was terrific. I loved the way they fit the french resistance into the scenarios and the two french players had marvelous impressions. They were without a doubt, my favorite targets. They were also the easiest to target acquire with their bright non camo clothing. The french could wander the playing field at will as long as they were unarmed. They could also arm themselves in the village and move out to cause havoc. Are those great rules or what? Ok, funnest kill. After spending 15-20 minutes working my way alone thru unbelievably thick choked forest I emerged behind the town where two allies and one frenchman were talking. As I took up a position in the tree line undetected the frenchie walked towards a plywood building and reached over a particle board wall grabbing for his thompson. Imagine my delight and anticipation as he reached for his weapon. He was quite startled after being tapped by a 430ft. sec. mauser shot from about 20 feet away. The two Ami's were next as they had no clue as to my location and had no cover but they were saved by an announcement that the game was over.
Towards the end of the day, Josh (Burt) led an assault on the american prepared positions. The U.S. and French had dwindled to about 8 or 9 defenders (maybe less) and the germans attacked with about 15. There was no subtlety in the advance. Overwhelming the U.S. first postions in a double wave advance the U.S. and French simply could not stop the attack. They ran from their trenches and were mowed down. I believe the final tally was 9 or 10 dead defenders and one german casualty. It was a great attack and one that Captain Josh should be proud of having organized.
There were many other great skirmish actions and to my knowledge there were no injuries which all acted to make this event a wonderful time. By late Saturday, fatigue was setting in and my brother and I drove another fifteen hours. After arriving home, this weary SS trooper took a nap and enjoyed the feeling of having been pretty much up for 3-4 days while fighting. Note the time of this post. I just got up. If you guys get an event going again in October like you have planned, you just might see us again.
Final notes, It was great to meet biged after reading all of his wonderful technical posts and I want to thank Josh, Sean, and Majorray for their efforts. I also enjoyed meeting all the rest of you east coasters. Loved the mortar, artillery, browning .30, mg's, etc. I really liked the pak40 and hope that the midwest can someday get one. Thanks again, great time.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but it is going towards ersatzjack2's words. Why don't you have one over memorial day weekend? I think its like a three day weekend for most people. I don't think I could drive 5 hours away on a normal weekend, non the less during a school year. That was just a thought. The event looked great guys, I will be at the next one (depending on the date) for sure.

Great looking game but I have a question. Where did you get the safety rules you used for the game. Where the rules your team normally use or some a larger regional group in your area uses or what? What were your FPS and MED's. Reason I ask was this quote. Nothing wrong with that shot It just got me wondering what you guys had for those rules.

1st game:
Americans mission objectives are to secure the first bridge and the damn to gain control of their 2nd spawn location. Then they were to secure the bridge entering the town. They had 2 hours time to do this.
With the use of smoke and flanking tactics the first bridge falls rather quickly as I watched helplessly from the distance, as I was placed in charge of an MG crew to secure the left flank headed into town. Soon after we were ordered to counter attack- Fighting very hard the damn came under our control almost as fast as we lost control over it. This ensued for much of the game until the Americans captured the town cutting off German reinforcements, practically forcing the Germans to abandon the first bridge and the damn to re-capture the town. Had the game gone on another five minutes we would have secured the town with an SS sniper to the Allied left flank, picking Frenchmen and Americans off as their attention was focused on me and another German FJ already in town. Alas, the time was up with the allies holding all mission objectives.
The most memorable part of the first game was how I with the assistance of Aaron, Sean and Yansee took the allied first bridge.
We heard Americans talking to each other around the bend of the creek. We were huddled together listening in as they were trying to spot Aaron who was laying down some K-98 fire on the allied position. I decided then to walk right in the water around the bend slowly, followed up by Sean and Yansee and we took 3 prisoners. (safety killed) It was glorious as the first bridge was under allied control 90% of the game. It is too bad we had to abandon the position to head back to town.

Reply to AADan - The only guns at the event that were in question were ersatzjack's custom springers and they chrono'ed out at consistent 430-450 fps weapons. The shot at the frenchmen could have been 20 yards or 20 feet, I'm bad with distance in the heat of action. Suffice it to say that both my brother and I were shot at close range by aeg's because we didn't want to take close shots at two separate times during the battle. When I shoot at closer distances I am always aiming center mass or lower. I'd never take a shot that I thought would cause real damage.

I shot those kar 98s, they were not the uber 550 fps demons that most airsoft snipers use, just extremely accurate spring rifles. As long as a thoughtful adult used them, I cant see why you would treat them any diffrent that a 400 fps gun. (which has a 20 foot minimum engagement distance)

I spent my time looking hopelessly for Ray... and doing my usual Pin Down The MG-42 With A Thompson at Extreme Range gig. **MG-42 In open field** I fire at it at really extreme range cause if they could they woulda lit Gordak's wee little Ami head up. I fire and watch a BB arc and pong! off the spotters boot he turns and tells the gunner... "Watch the left flank." and keeps on spotting... Aw well. On a lighter note i believe the British uniform carries a invincibility cheat in it. I Run/Limp behind mcallion and gordak when we dive behind ed and his mortar... That are stupid move on my part because now i can no longer get up. So seriously all i do is sit there plunking rounds at the Germans in the town and let my forcefield deflect all the bullets
