Oh, that's too bad. I was really looking forward to this event. I was all set for this. When is the rescheduled date?

Well, it's 10:30AM here on Long Island and it's a typical fall day. Cool, overcast, and wet with leaves on the ground. Not the Noreaster they all said would be here.
This was my point from my previous email, the weatherman sucks!! Weather.com had a 90% chance of rain for Wolcott yesterday and now it's 30%. It is so disappointing that so many got scared of by this after months of anticipation for this event.
I would hope in the future, all who comitt will do just that and attend. I was willing to risk a two night stay at a nearby hotel in the hope we would have this event. Gerry worked his butt off on this and for him to tell me that he had trouble hearing from some of you is not acceptable. Communication is the key.
Hopefully we can get a re-scheduled date for sometime in December. Either way, we need to get it right the next time.

Joe as always, Thanks for your kind words! I went to the bakery for breakfast this morning for my family and the weather would have been perfect for an event, I was really looking forward to breaking in and getting my new uniform dirty before the GAP this winter, I don't think it would be appropriate to post up what I said to myself! 90% of the attendees do not know what goes into planning and logistics for events, even a single day event like this one was to be, this is dozens of hours of time that are given up and well as a couple of hundred bucks of my own money that never is reimbursed. This is not including time spent on the day of the event and bartering for raffle prizes. I cant even tell you what goes into cleaning all the loaner gear and weapons after the event! Susequently the field moderator gave up time and a half at his regular job to be at the field for us this morning and I can assure you that the email I received from him about having to cancel the event was not a happy one. I had an Iron cross 1st and 2nd class with the certificates that were to be awarded to the 2 best fighting and bravest German players! I work for a high volume retailer in Manhattan and I have to pull a lot of strings to get off weekends in November, December and the first half of January so it looks like a reschedule won't be possible until Mid January, our next event may well be our Ardennes offensive event. Our final teams would have been 15+ GI's vs 4 Germans. Perhaps for future events we will make them prepay with a 1 or 2 week prior cut off point with refund only given for Hell freezing over this may give people more of a reason to attend and not get soft over a bit of rain. We are catering to a very small niche here and trying to build this hobby, I think we have come a long way in 2 years as far as introducing some new blood into the hobby, look at our Rhineland event! We had nearly 60 people show for that of which about a dozen had never participated in WWII airsoft or there were blank fire reenactors that never used Airsoft weapons, either way if it hadn't been for the weather (again!) on Sunday we would have had a very successful 2 day Spring event.. even so I got a lot of good feedback from nearly everyone that it was an awesome event though it lasted only one day. There is no one that is hosting WWII Airsoft events here in New England other than the guys up in Amsterdam (which I do not think we will see another event there for some time) I happen to love WWII Airsoft and enjoy the company of the people in our "core" group. I have made a commitment to building the hobby in our region and trying to recruit new players as well as experienced blank fire reenactors into this hobby and the first thing to getting someone hooked are awesome events with good attendance and I will need everyones help for the latter! Again, my apologies to everyone. -Gerry

I went to wolcott today, guys, the weather SUCKED, the super thick mist would have collected on our goggles and soaked all of our gear, it wasnt cold, but it was destructive, I was loaning out 7 or 8 kits, and guns. It was going to be a ton of wear and tear on my stuff for an event with so many dropouts. Its a good thing it was cancelled.
Now Im looking very foreward to the next game, the last winter game we had was friggin awesome. -Gordak

Well it's very clear how disappointed we all are about this weekends "lost" event. But we should all be happy that there is such passion out there for our hobby and how much we all look forward to these events.
Happy Holidays to all and looking forward to seeing everyone real soon.
Joe

Might be a mixed blessing for me, leaves me time to get my Brit impression ready for the winter! Thanks again for organizing this whole thing, and sorry that it didn't work out.
