I need to know if a marushin M1 Garand is worrth buying. I will not use it much, mainly for the loading operation, clip ejection, and very limited shooting. Maybe some skirmishes. This poll closes in 3 days.
- Also, see my articles on a list of Marushin GBB rifles, a review of the M2 carbine (not great), and also, there IS a GBB M1 carbine on redwolfairsoft.com, uses m2 mags. Semi auto only, not single shot, not full auto. ;D

After seeing how well 2ndbat does with his M1 Garand… no, no I would not buy one of those if you have the chance to pick up a 2ndbat M1 Garand. Ask some of the guys who used them just a week or two ago at the CT WW2 game.

This Garand is great for looking at looks exactly like the real thing but worthless for skirmishing whatsoever. Even with high maintenance it still breaks down and you end up with a broken replica. I am hearing that someone came out with reinforced internals which will make the Garand skirmishable. It would still however require high maintenance. If you don't plan on getting the upgrades I wouldn't suggest you buy it unless you are just hanging it on your wall.

I would wait for the Chinese copy. Why pay all that for a good looking one time user. Then add what you would pay for the up grade to your pretty gun and you could have gotten several guns.

Let me rephrase... When I said not shooting much etc., I didn't mean a wallhanger. I meant a show-off-to-your-friends-gawk-in-awe-amazingly-awesome-realistic-piece-of-overpriced-but-still-awesome-gun Garand. Does anyone know how to maintain one? Furthermore, I would probably pay to get it repaired. That would take a long time, but the site I trust is AirsoftGI, and they do a pretty good job.

It would just break again unless you bought reinforced parts. After buying reinforced parts, getting it fixed your spendings would probably be close to $1000. I'd just impress your friends with a VFC BAR or something.

I spent a lot of time and money to make a Marushin Garand more authentic, reliable and skirmishable. But it is my hobby. picasaweb.google.com/Romuil2000/M1#If you need it just for home show, I think Marushin will be good enough. For airsoft battle buy 2ndbat Garand or spend money for Marushin improvement. That is just my opinion.

Can you upgrade a Marushin and sell it? Outside as is, inside reinforced?

Here's how you maintain it: take it apart a few times (2-3) times a month and clean the parts. It's really easy, all I did with mine was take the trigger mechanism out and clean that up.
I vote yes. I had the Ltd. Edition Walnut Stock for a few months, before I sold it (it was like up to my neck!)

So if I do that, which seems reelatively easy: pull out trigger guard, remove, unscrew the screw behind trigger, tip gun open, remove parts, and clean it, then put it back together, I can keep the gun working?

Yes, but not a long time if you are going to use it relatively frequently. There are some weak points.

Like I said above, not frequent shooting, just putting clip in and ejecting, show-off piece, I don't like to think wallhanger, but kind of, yeah. Some skirmishes maybe. I appreciate the help!

"For $500 I'd just get a real one. "
Where I live everything is illegal. A Marushin Garand is as near to a Garand as I can get in my own country. Spending a few $$ on it souping it up to take green/red gas is therefore worth it to me.

Hey, I was PM'ing roma about Him internally reinforcing a Marushin, (not gonna work, he's in russia) and he said that the Walnut Limited is more reliable than the SI version. I think this is because the walnut limited uses the weaker hfc134a, and the SI (green gas) has more wear and tear because of its higher power. Someone help me!

Bad news guys: My dad thinks that i should steer clear of gas guns (bad experience with $350). Therefore, the Marushin Garand is out of the question as of now. I want an Allies WW2 gun, but not a Thompson, and it has to be electric or spring, (US Marines or Marine Raiders). Preferrably a US website. My dad also thinks I should buy from my local store, but any help is appreciated.
PS- I could also but a reasonably priced (less than $300 USD) cutsom from here, but not my first choice.

Your best bet is to have someone like tommygunner build you a springfield. (In the US weapons cattagory at least...)

I appreciate the help, but I want a USMC gun. Some ppl sell 1928 thompsons here, 1 for $155. My favorite Thompson is the one with the 1928 flash hider, 1928 stock, 1928 top bolt but M1A1 grip, not vertical. Thats like the M1 Thompson, not M1A1. Anyone know of any custom Japanese guns (arisaka, type 100)?

Arisaka? AFAIK, Tanaka Works makes Type 38 and 99 but sadly its a gas gun but buf! Its worth every penny. Ive got their M700 AICS and im very happy with it! www.tanaka-works.com/eng%20type99.html

Yeah, I knew about that. I prefer T38 over T99 ,but theyre practically identical. That would be an OK gas gun beacause it is non blow back, bolt action. Sadly it is like $600 USD. I don't think I can spend that much on a gun. That is an amazing gun, though. 'Captured Arisaka T99'. not a realistic thought. US soldiers were relatively well supplied, not having to take weapons from dead troops.
