Well, today i picked up quite an interesting piece today. today i bought a US M8 Scabbard for 20 dollars at a surplus store but it has been strangely repainted. The scabbard body itself is painted black, and there is a white 5 on the front of it. Do you think this could possibly be a navy item? they tended to repaint all of there gear. and do you think it would be good to strip off this black paint and repaint it olive drab or is it in someway valuable? Anyone that can get me information on this scabbard it would be greatly appreciated. thanks brady says US M8 BMCO Black paint and a 5. just another picture. thanks- Brady

The M-8 bayonet is not rare. I have 1 compleat and it cost around the same for both. The plastic it is made from is green so a bit of paint stripper is all that is needed. Good find .
