Ok so we all know that Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg Made the HBO series "Band of Brothers". For those of you who don't know it's a mini series about the 101st airbone(506th PIR Easy company) and their jump on D-Day, the taking of carentan, OUTSIDE of carentan, Bastogne, Foy, and the catpuring of the Eagle's Nest. But what if they made a seires just like it but about the 82nd Airborne. Vote.

Why do another of essentially the same thing? Plus, BoB was based on a best selling book.IDK of any about the 82nd. Sorry,I'm slightly biased, I served in the 101st!

So a remake is in order, I would like to see something other than the "normal" D-Day, Bulge, Pearl Harbor, Enemy@Gates stuff that has come out resently. I liked Stallingrad, but didn't see Flags of our Fathers but did see Letters from Iwo. Mostly I don't watch the movie for the story(sub, back, side) I watch for details, and to see how close they get to being on the money.
Airbornerocks, maybe its a "don't ask don't tell" type of thing....?

How about a series that follows the Russian Army before + after Stalingrad.

I say the series should pick up where it left off, they all get disbanded! Or focus on Operation easy winter, which was the PTO, MTO, North Africa, CBI, and anywhere the 506th wasn't which was a distraction so that the wouldn't know about the supertroopers of E/506th that won the war singlehandidly.
Eh, they should just do it on the Marines.....oh wait they already are.

The only reason I said 82nd is because of Op. Husky. I haven't even seen a movie about the airborne on Sicily. Plus the Fighting First is way overrated. So many little squirts want to join the "Big Red One" when all they are is Glorified infantry. Also they all were obliterated on Normandy.

this is also true. They should do a series on the Marines on Saipan and Peleliu. The only thing is because of call of duty every munchkin is going to want to be a raider. Then we have another outbreak on our hands.

So many little squirts want to join the "Big Red One" when all they are is Glorified infantry. Also they all were obliterated on Normandy. First off, a the whole Airborne is oaverrated. To say that any infantry unit is overdone is false. Go to any open renacting event and you will see that a vast majority of reenactors are not reenacting leg infantry but Ranger, Airborne, SS and Falshys. You should know. You're an airborne fanboy yourself. Squirt. this is also true. They should do a series on the Marines on Saipan and Peleliu. The only thing is because of call of duty every munchkin is going to want to be a raider. Then we have another outbreak on our hands. 1. Where have you been? Living under a rock? They are making a BoB 2. Its called "The Pacific". Google it. 2. How did you get interested in Airborne? I am guessing it wasnt because of reading books. Am I right? You either also played CoD or watched BoB. Munchkin. they should do something in the pacific theres like 2 or 3 movies about that part of the war and like 40 for europe Elder, where have you been? PS I am not saying that being interested in the US AB is a bd thing in and of itself but the way you are belittling everyone else when you are guilty of the same things is not only hypocritical, but immature.

That said, I would love to see a series done on some Chindits, or just a normal British leg unit and their trek across North Africa, invasion of Sicily, and invasion of NW Europe.

im all for a series on the 82nd, they seem very underappreciated. but id rather have a series on the MTO, perhaps following the 3rd infantry division through north africa, and such all the way to the landings in southern france, ive never seen a movie on that. (is there a movie on that?) -Brady

The thing is, before BoB 82nd was practically the ONLY Airborne unit reenacted. They were the most diverse and had more combat jumps than the 101st. Look at any old war movie and 82nd guys are more prominant than the 101st.

I was going to suggest people perhaps look back a few decades and they would find tons of PTO movies. Well, a lot of the youngsters on here only remember the last 10 years or so. Some of us grew up on the classics, like Battleground, and the Longest Day. All they know is BoB and Saving Pvt. Ryan.
