The Fighting Seabees, there's a film that the younger members on this forum need to watch. John Wayne and his engineers fighting the Japs and for the love of his life! Nick

Oh, you promised you wouldn't do fruit this week.
What do you mean?
We've done fruit the last nine weeks.
What's wrong with fruit? You think you know it all, eh?
Can't we do something else?
Like someone who attacks you with a pointed stick?
Pointed stick? Oh, oh, oh. We want to learn how to defend ourselves against pointed sticks, do we? Getting all high and mighty, eh?

Alban I just read your tagline under your avatar... with the pose in that pic it should read Snipaz 4 Life... and you need to get an iced-out gorget for your uniform.

That said, I would love to see a series done on some Chindits, or just a normal British leg unit and their trek across North Africa, invasion of Sicily, and invasion of NW Europe. Click The Burma Campaign would be a really good subject. Some really fascinating characters. The number of units involved was small enough they could give a decent amount of attention to the different groups involved. While the numbers weren't that large (in NW Europe terms), they were very diverse. The Chindits included Ghurkas, Indians and West Africans. In addition to Merrill's Marauders, Stilwell commanded several Chinese divisions, and an American trained and led, Chinese manned tank unit. If you're not familiar with it, it's well worth reading up on. Another subject that would be worth doing, but it wouldn't be commercially viable in the US, would be to follow the British 7th Armored Division, aka the Desert rats, through North Africa and NW Europe. But unless they could find an American who was there, American audiences just wouldn't be interested, sad to say. One thing about the 101st. Even though my uncle served in the 502d PIR, I have to admit the 101st has gotten way more than its fair share of publicity. A lot of leg infantry divisions (besides the 1st) deserve more recognition. The 3rd, the 45th, the 36th in the Med come to mind. The 32d in New Guinea.
