I read a review of these in Airsoft International. It wasn't pretty! Not many nice things to say about it.

The staff at AI seemed very disappointed at the performance given the large price tag.I guess they were hoping for something much better.

Given ther niggles it had 350 is a hefty sum they are correct but since I currently hav no other choice if they are still available I may get one this fall. Of course there may be a new improved version or price tag by then one never knows. But I learned awhile back to not rush out and buy airsoft as soon as it hits the markets.

It is a little expensive for what you get, but it is not as bad as some are saying. Actually it's not bad at all. I bought one through Battlesim and used it at JTD last month. The gun shoots very well and is durable. It survived 24 hours of jumping out of a moving vehicle and conditions so wet that no part of my gear was dry. It shoots hard and is more than accurate enough. It's not a sniper rifle so accuracy was not tested but I got plenty of kills with the gun. The gun is mostly steel, which some reviews had claimed otherwise. It uses the AGM MP40 mags, which is a real plus as they are so cheap. It also comes with a much better charger than is usually supplied with an airsoft gun. I almost always just throw those away!! But this one is an intelli-charger designed for Li-po batteries.
The fit and finish of my Sten is good but not excellent, but once I rework a couple parts, it will be!

The reports out of England from the "Camrades in Arms" guys about the latest batch of Viva Stens is a bit better than some of the first reviews. www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/index.htmlStill not perfect, but at least if the internals present a problem, the gun could be reworked to make it better. I have heard rumors of an AGM Sten and PPSH on the horizion! Now that would be cool...But....I am still waiting to see the AGM MG 42!!! I am also waiting for AGM to come out with a Stuka, Tiger Tank and U-Boat next ;D ;D ;D

I pick up my Sten from WGC this afternoon and hopefully get a review posted soon. I'll ask the boys at WGC about the MG42 or any other up and coming WW2 guns.
UPDATE: I picked up my Sten MKII today from WGC (Hong Kong). Walk-in price was US$330. Tested the AEG this evening on the chrono and it averaged 288 fps using .2 excell bb's. This sten model seems quite solid and is indeed all steel but until I take it apart I really don't know for sure what the guts are like. This gun can be dropped, tossed and stepped on without worry of damage.
The Lipoly is quite small and it's capacity life I suspect is short. I suggest you order a spare lipoly if you can. I also took it to UN Company and showed it off with their owner. My intent was to buy a box of King Arms MP40 mid-cap (110) magazines from UN as they are really the only guys that carry them here in HK. UN needs to get them from the warehouse for me so I'll just wait I guess. UN spent some time toying with it and
Is it a game gun? Why not, but you will be out gunned and out ranged by the MP44 for sure. I need to see about how to get a better and larger battery in there as well upgrade to a M100 or M110 at least. The M1A1 is still King of Allied subs
The ROF seems quite realistic as is but I didn't measure that yet. The Viva Sten is probably as unsafe as the real thing. I can't find any safety on it.
I'll open it up later and see the guts and as always upgrade the piston, Guide and re-grease. Maybe I can get a few more fps out of the Ver 7 gear box.

Kalbs - that is a very professional review. Now you have me thinking about getting one. I'd like to see a Mk.V version.

The way the gearbox motor mounts is nuts. Very nice review. If I was a brit I would be all over that.

Converting the Viva Sten to a aMKII"S" version would be easy. Just like the real one the shroud and barrel are replaced. Using a longer tube the same diameter as the shroud whould be easy as would adding a longer threaded barrel piece. You would also need a sewn and laced canvas grip piece. This would also allow for a longer inner barrel. Hmmm... I could try this and it would not destroy the origional STEN.

In Vietnam. LRRPs occassionally used stens mounted with a silencer as shown above for special missions. The round of course is sub sonic and with the rather large silencer it allowed for a fairly quiet report. It was perfect for POW snatch missions.

Started my MKII"S" mod. Nice thing is it doesn't destroy the origionalconfiguration. Sorry for the crappy picture. Mrs. kalbs has my camera on holiday to the US. Basically it's 1 1/2" hard copper slightly milled to slide over the receiver end. Still to do is cut to length (12"), finish the buisness end, paint semi-gloss black and install the IMA silencer cover it will be done.

Looks good Kalbs!
How does it mount? Just a friction fit? And how do you intend to finish off the "business end"?
Also I noticed in your review that yours chrono'd under 300fps. I have noticed all Viva's ad's say 390-410. When I used mine at Jump to Destiny, it sure seamed like it was shooting a lot harder than 300fps, but they did not chrono the guns so that was just a guess on my part.
I am still waiting to chrono mine, but due to a shipping mix up after JTD I am still waiting to try it again.
