Hey everyone, I thought I'd let you all know that my B.A.R. is a few hours from being finished. I will post up more, with photos, ASAP.

Great way to make a BAR. I think the end product is very nice and looks the part no doubt.

I plan on using real B.A.R. magazines, and putting m14 internals in them. If the bb feed and hop-up dont match, ill have to use short m16 magazine internals.
Oh, Sir veilance.. the Bren is on my list!

How does the barrel lock down? How much for a kit, less the gearbox etc?

Looks great. I like the real wood forehandle and the composition rear stock was in fact quite common so that is likewise cool. I found the M14 butt plate flap worked fine when mounted high on the rear stock and with the waffle pattern ground down to flat.
BAR mags aren't horribly expensive and obviuosly are the right way to go. The M14 internals will fit fine inside of course if you can align them properly. The only concern I might have is the length. Gordak posted a picture in his BAR review way back when that compared the BAR mag to the M14.

Yeah, I'm going to have to cut about a quarter to a half an inch off the top of real BAR mags to get them to look right. Burke, the barrel has screws on both sides that go through the receiver and it is also connected to the gas tube witch is screwed to the foregrip, witch then is snuggly pushed onto a protrusion on the receiver. The foregrip is then screwed in through a metal plate into the receiver, also there is a screw that goes through the magwell into the foregrip. In short. Its damn sturdy.

You obviously still need to do some work so that mags (whatever you ultimately decide to use) will snap in and out and feed properly. It'll be cool to see what you eventually come up with. Stay on it and don't give up now since you are so close to a finalized and fully functional BAR. We are all pulling for you and I for one really hope you can make it a commercial offering.

Thanks John, and no, I am most definitely not giving up on this one. I'm getting some cash on Thursday, so Im going to order a BAR magazine and a VN style M4 magazine. Hopefully I will be able to get it to work out alright. Now that I have it all built, pretty well how id like; I'm going to start work on an aluminum BAR with the CNC. Ill keep everyone posted. I will be gone from Aug 1-8th, so if you dont hear from me, I'm not ignoring you, I just am not available.

Probably a lot of people would like to know that (including me) but I suspect he has to finish the project completely, look at the time and resources required and determine what would justify the time and effort required. Unlike mine his look replicable and if a unified set up could be created it appears he should be able to produce them. Hopefully he can do so at a price that will make them attractive.
They will provide a usueful and terrifc addition to local arsenals. (If he decides to do it.) I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Would you offer the full wood style one? Perhaps as a cheaper alternative to the aluminum model?

Probably not, because it wouldn't be very strong. The aluminum one would be fairly cheap. around $550-750.
