Years and years ago I saw a science fiction movie about an emmersive Western experience that involved stepping back in time into what felt and looked like the old west. The paying customers arrived in costume and were exposed to all the classic encounters from the entire movie genre of westerns. The adversarial players were all robots and the lead adversary was played brilliantly by Yul Brenner. You couldn't tell who the customers were and who the cyborgs were. In the course of the movie of course the robots went haywire and the bullets flying were real. It was a cool movie and a concept not unlike what we do with airsoft events (minus the robots)
I ran into a guy who on his property he created a full blown movie ranch type set up of the old west. The 3 1/2 acres houses slightly downsized but incredibly detailed structures that depict all the classic buildings in an old west town (at least as depicted in the movies) The Saloon, The bank, the sheriffs office, the school house, a hotel, a Chinese laundry even a train station. I thought to myself how cool it would be to hold an airsoft event there ala West World. You could have a bank heist, a jail break, the town under seize by the evil rustlers, who knows. Certainly you could have shoot outs on the streets and high noon showdowns. Pocker games in the saloon, dance hall girls the skys the limit. The place is amazing. It's located in Western Washington near Portland Oregon.

That's a pretty cool idea . There are airsoft revolvers that can be used and i'm sure a few guys in the forum can come up with a way to make the right type of rifles for the era . I must admit there are some very smart and resourceful members on this forum that can build just about any weapon we can ask for.

I remember Yul Brenner character's name "The Gunslinger". Now who volunteers to shave their head and dress in classic bad guy all black?

It would be very cool to do something like this. I would try it at least once (providing I have the dough) Adler, or you could dress up in black and be this guy:

Westworld is a classic! I need to find it on DVD now! BTW,in the movie, there was also Roman World, and Medievil world. A computer malfunction made the robots go haywire and start killing guests where previously, guests were immune to being harmed.
I need to get this!

A movie I remember seeing at a drive in with the parents...too cool. When I played paintball some years ago we played at a place that used to be an amusement park of sorts with a wild west theme it had all the things you mentioned it was pretty cool. There are already western rifles made at least one that I saw a while back.

If I remember correctly, the movie wa sone of the late Michael Chricton's early screenplays.
Somebody used to make a BB gun Winchester Model 94. I wonder if one of those could be converted to Airsoft.

A computer malfunction made the robots go haywire and start killing guests where previously, guests were immune to being harmed. I need to get this! There is also a movie called "Futureworld". It takes place after "Westworld" and covers why the robots go haywire. They add in Spaceworld and there still is the set for Westworld in the movie. It was pretty horrible, but cool that they carried on the series. On the note of Western weapons. I know that there are a few lever action rifles being made, There are also a handfull of single action revolers.

The big downer is that the tanaka guns are only made ones every 500 years. If you can't find them used, you have to wait 10 years before they become avable again. The same goes for Marushin lever action rifles. I've had them both on watch lists so I get notified when they become availbel again, but this has not happed for the 8 months I've been waiting. Which is a shame becasue western outfits are very easy to get a hold of and not that expencive, about the same price as WW2 uniform and gear. And what is REALY amazing is that there is NO real double barrle shotgun in airsoft, you got the sawed of gun, and a full lenght shotgun, but it has the same stupid grip as the sawed of shotgun does.

Wow this thread apparently resonated with a lot of folks. Seeing the trailer really brought back memories. I loved the original movie and had forgotten that James Brolin was in it. The fellow with the theme park is actually kind of intrigued with the idea of hosting an event. Six shooters and a lever action Winchester is all we'd need. And of course western clothing.

This is were I buy my western kit, you can do it REALY ship, blue jeans, shirt, gun belt, hat and boots. Probebly run you less then a single SAA airsfot gun Or you could do like I did an go for the high end US marshal, with high end coats, vest, ties, hat ect. Anyway you can do all kinds of kits on this site from simple and cheap or complicated and expencive. the even have gun belts and holsters, But I prefer to buy custom made belts and holsters, they cost about the same and look tones better www.wwmerc.com/cgi-bin/Category.cgi?category=home&type=store

I love Western movies. My favorites have to be "The Man With No Name" Trilogy. With Clint Eastwood. I did enjoy 3:10 Yuma as well. I would want a "Blondie" Impression. www.cinemaisdope.com/news/films/goodbadugly/goodthebadandtheugly.jpgI have also been playing the new game "Call of Juraze: Bound in Blood" its a westen FPS. Where you can play as one of two brothers, one has armor and is better at close range. The other can climb, use a rope and is long range.

Bound in blood is the greatest western game made(beat out the almost unbeatble Outlaws) Even with the wrong guns the game is great, I've now played the single player 20 hours, and another 3 hours on multiplayer. Just love the game, the 3rd best game of the 2000s, only beaten by Morrowind and KOTOR. And one of the best action games out there

And that they had used the right guns, atleast the rifles.
One thing is that you want to use cartridge revolvers, but there was no need to add a rifle from 1894 when the game is set in 1866. You could easly had used a Henry Rifle or Yellowboy, The Yellowboy looks almost the same as the newer winchesters but would be the right guns for the period.
It is kinda silly having a civil war battle were the soldiers are armed win winchester 94s, not made unitl 30 years after the war. Kina like having a WW2 game were you run around with M16A1s and M60s

We have an old west town in east central Iowa and the guys there do an old west reenactment. Another one is planned for just outside of Chicago on the southwest side.
