This thread is for folks that are still working on getting a quality impression together and want to share pics of their effort so far!
American, British or any other 'Almost, but not quite There' impressions here please! That will save you from any potentially negative comments from those that are maintaining a more accurate kit.
In other words this thread is for those that the sport of Airsoft is a bit more important than historical and uniform accuaracy.

Here's my 101st Airborne impression I wanted that "Capt. Speirs" air of mystery about me...but anyway, like many people the last few years, I was inspired by BoB and of course SPR. But what I'm working on now is an impression of WWII Philippine Scouts. Philippine Scouts were Filipinos who were recruited into the US Army during the American colonialization of the Philippines. They fought gallantly beside their American comrades but alas were not able to stop the Japanese onslaught due to lack of supplies, ammo and starvation. Many were captured and made to walk the Bataan death march towards japanese concentration camps all over the Philippines, including the infamous one at Cabanatuan. But several were able to escape into the hills and mountains to continue the fight against the Japanese as guerillas until MaCarthur made good on his promise to return to liberate the Philippines in 1944.

they wore US Army tropical khakis, and the old M1917 "doughboy" helmet, which I was finally able to find at a gun show here last month. It's really a simple impression to put together. Here's a photo of Philippine Scouts displaying a captured samurai sword

Here is a few pics of my 45th ID impression so far. I still need a liner for my helmet + straps, web gear (I recently bought a canteen w/ cover, compass pouch, and a medic bag, I'll post more pictures in the future) I need double buckle boots, and I should add that the tan undershirt is actually an M50 9th ID shirt, but it looks good and you can't tell its 9th ID when its under my jacket. I also need a gun. sry for stretching the page, I dont know how to resize

Here is a pic of me in my gear. I hope that this is an appropriate place to put this picture. Helmet is not a dark green like it should be. I am hoping a OD paint job and some vaseline smeered in will make it look good. Wool pants are itchy as a mother. I may buy and HBT set for the summer. I have a repro Thompson magbag a period canteen and a bandage pouch along with my x-suspenders and period webbelt. and leggings. The boots underneath are magnums because well they are comfortable darn it.

Very Cool!! ;D I was actually just thinking about doing something like that, like an early war Bataan/Wake Island/Pearl Harbor/coast artillery kind of thing, since I just picked up a nice 1917a1 helmet, but ya beat me to it 8ball! Anyways what're you using for your khaki's? I'm looking for ideas.

Nice to see something different and so well done. I like the added backgrounds and black and white effects. Very cool indeed.

The disks should only go on a Class A shirt, not on your wool shirt. And arent those paratrooper's pants?

Yea, I am a paratrooper, the pants and the shirt are a correct combination. And the disks were adapted to the wools also, it is correct.

Nice impression Mauser, glad to see it's coming along. About the collar brass,It's kinda correct, They went on a different spot on the class A's img.photobucket.com/albums/v307/Jack-Nimlas/P4090001.jpg And it attracts snipers. You also might wanna put come leather laces on those boots too. Does you flashlight say TL-122B on it? Jack~ And no making fun of the stitching on my patches

hey mauser the only thing I would suggest is before you put your boots on roll your pant leg up a bit so it doesn't cover your whole boot when you blouse it besides that very nice impression

Agreed. The Mango put alot of work and effort into an authentic appearance and tied in the impression contest. He truly looked and acted the part at the Carentan game and was a real asset within my outfit. He lugged the M1919A6 throughout the event (23 lbs plus the ammo box) and carried one of my carbines as a back up.
The actual dbl buckle boots he's wearing he won from Helmutt at the event which was an excellent prize. In addition to that impression he is putting together other WW2 looks and a Vietnam LRRP impression.

This is what I have so far, pieced together as my budget could afford. Right now I am going for just a general WW2 late war ETO impression. Post-war M1 helmet, I want/need to get some paint to make it correct color, and would like to get more authentic chin strap. 1943 dated flannel shirt OD (got that for free!). Norwegian M-43 jacket and pants. Post-war pistol belt, 1944 suspenders, french double buckle boots. What you cannot see is the 1944 dated mussette bag on my back. I definitely need some more gear, and I have nothing for a weapon. All said, I have everything for about the same price as a good repro boots and suspenders.

Themango, AWESOME PICTURE!!!!! man.... looks so good Jardows, Excellent start! Honestly its only the pistol belt that is out of place, the rest of the kit looks very good, Keep an eye out at tag sales and fleamarkets you can get the belt for under 5 bux (assuming your in the USA). Yes, you might want to make the helmet a darker green, otherwise, looks like u just need a weapon! -Gordak

The pistol belt is something I've had for a while. I picked it up for a couple bucks at a surplus store to use as a utility belt. Since I don't have a proper cartridge belt, I figured this would have to do for now!

Jardows - I used the Krylon OD Camo paint and Walmart - It drys fast and its in a spray can so its really easy to do. smg.photobucket.com/albums/v606/CCoy5thRangers/ODESSA_05/?action=view¤t=odessa01.jpgthats me in front on the right, and I'm wearing the helmet I did with the krylon paint. Not a good pic of it, but as you can see, it blends in with the other helmets easily. BTW, the other helmets are a mix - some original, one J Murray, and one ATF helmet from 2 years ago.....

Thanks for the tip 5thranger. It's probably cheaper than the Testor's stuff, and if it is that close, if I got some helmet netting it would very difficult to tell!
