The AP2 mortar appears to be a very simple ball valve gun.
Judging from the picture and the description: A length of 18" long 3/4 inch pipe with a cap on the end. A 3/4" to 3/4" with a 1/8th NPT Tee-connection to a 1/8th inch HP 1200+ psi hose and paintball tank fill adaptor. The 3/4 Tee has a 3/4" x 2" nipple and is connected to a 3/4" ball valve then (2) 90 degree fittings connected with short 3/4" x 2" nipples. Then a 3/4" to 1.5" adapter and then a 1.5" to 3" adapter, then a length of 3" barrel.
Valve speed is critical, otherwise the gun will not perform well at all. You want a valve to open in as little milliseconds as possible. A ball valve gun is a good start though.

I replaced the little .75 irrigation valve with a 1.5" valve. The ASCO valve has a built in mini 5/8" valve to vent it's pilot volume. Adding a blowgun was plug and play. I capped the other .75 valve connector that shoots smoke grenades for now. Equalizing the pressure for 2 irrigation valves is slow. (Air pressure must be slowly added to the chamber otherwise the valves will honk.) I will eventually add a ball valve to turn the smaller valve on and off preventing the honking. I also replaced swapped barrel with a 6-footer. ///ed///

Picture of it at VN event. PRC25, ammo can, 1 gallon pump sprayer, 20 lbs CO2 tank, 5 gallon bucket of beans & peas, butt pack on GP strap hanging, and drinking water. There is about 250+ lbs of weight in the cart. I came back with 6 tennis balls at the end of the day. Shot 60+ balls and 30+ water balloons. ///ed///

Do you have any measured drawings or blue prints we can get?
