hi guys, a quick update. work has been a bit slow on this but have been chipping away on it. i have roughed the stock out which looks a bit bulky at the moment but should be o.k when i get it shaped. i've had a bit of trouble with the trigger and unfortunately i think it will be full auto only as the gearbox is not near the fire selector, if anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated, would also like to know how the fire selector works on a m14 gearbox. i have managed to test fire it and had trouble with it being underpowered.this was due to bb feed hole being too far from the hop and the nozzle not sealing with the hop making an air leak. i have now sorted this and it shootes very good now,it was hitting the back wall of our workshop without any dipping and that was 186 feet with no feeding problems. jay

On the AGM M14, the little metal fire selector lever sticks out of the top front corner of the trigger switch mount assembly screwed to the gearbox's left side - a small spring defaults it to the rearward position, which is semi-auto; pushed all the way forward is full auto. This lever changes the contact gap of the trigger switch from momentary to full contact; if the lever is set to the middle, no solid contact occurs and the gearbox won't cycle properly (I personally don't think this is reliable enough to be used as the safety setting of a three position lever, but it's your call.)
Beautiful build so far, BTW.

hi guys another update......its almost finished. as you can see its a bit of a hybrid at the moment with the type 2 front end, will change that when shoei do another run of type 1's so i can get some spares. all that is left to do is finish the stock, make a cocking handle and a rubber plug for the battery slot in the stock, then give it some colour. cheers gryphon for the info on the m14 box,but im going to leave it at full auto only for now. overall im very pleased with it and cant wait to use it in the field, providing i can get some more mags sorted. jay

It looks great. you have skill !!!
But why didn't you go for the TypeII Pistol grip when you use a wood stock and a TypeII barrel and front grip?

But why didn't you go for the TypeII Pistol grip when you use a wood stock and a TypeII barrel and front grip? im starting to wonder this myself actually, but i just prefer the look of the type1 to the type2. the stock will end up black so will look more like the type1,and i have spoke to tomio at shoei and he has said that after finishing the mg42 run he will be doing a mp44 run and then the fg42 type1 so i will be able to get the front end parts then. thanks for the comments guys. jay

Can you do a type 2 lower receiver to swap with the type 1? The lower part is attached by screw as I saw... Maybe it is a good solution 2 types and one rifle!!!

As a matter of fact, so far, Zip's comments in the thread have been exponentially more relevant than yours!! So yeah, looks like he IS going to bump a topic?! OMG WTFZ?!
