While this is not earth shattering or really very original it was important for me to do this. I have been using the same solution that Ersatzjack uses for his conversion which is basically a pivot sliding mechanism that holds the mag in place. While this works very well visually it has always bothered me. So I have taken a few weeks to think out and experiment and I now have a new mag catch that uses the push button from the original VSR or USR11. I will be using this in all of my guns going forward and can retrofit it at no cost to any I have already done. I have a small hobby size mill that aids in doing these projects and what I did was take a small bar of aluminum and cut it down to size then milled in the slots and drilled the holes so that it would sit on top of the mag stabalizing peice(I don't know what else you would call that thing) It takes about an hour and careful measuring to get it right and I screwed up several prototypes before this one. I think it would be hard to replicate without a mill but it is possible. Here are some pics I apologize but I can't get a digital camera to work worth a crap it seems. I will try again tommorow in the daylight and see if they come out better. Here is an overview mounted on the gun. The mag in this is black to contrast against the stock and the mag catch. Close up out of the stock. Pretty much just a milled peice of metal nothing really special. Little further back less fuzzy pic of it. I think this solution offers the best solution to the mag catch issue and I hope you guys all like it.

That is in it's raw I just machined it before taking those pics stage. It will probally get a little epoxy putty to match it to the shape of the stock a little then a little paint. Some people may perfer the beadblasted or raw alum look I offer it any way the customer wants it.

Nice! I used a swing arm type catch on mine, but this is a definate improvement. Are you using that on all of your latest models?

I offer to do it the old way because I want a happy customer but I encourage people to choose this option as it doesn't cost them anymore and I think it looks better.

Jack brought up an excellent point in PM. If you do it this way you lose one of the areas that you connect the gun to the stock. If you only use the rear of the reciever and the front part to connect to the stock it would not hold at all in a skirmish situation. I connect mine at the rear of the reciever and at the front of the magwell and this holds the gun stable. I could additionally add a little length this peice I made and drill and tap it for an extra securing point but I don't think it is an issue with the other two points. Thanks for the help and review Jack!
