I've finished the 91/30 I was working on for a Russian member of MOA. The gap you see between the bottom of the magazines and the gun stock will be filled with exotic materials that Gryphon can glue to the bottoms of the magazines for a flush finished look. All I had was bondo so I'll leave that to the right craftsman. That should take him an evening. It comes with three mags and they were cut down to fit. Capacity is very real steel feeling at 10-11 rounds each. PDI parts are the piston, spring, spring guide, and trigger group. A Laylax 555mm tightbore is also installed. Fixed hop-up but that can be adjusted by removing the front handguard which doesn't take long. You need to stick with a particular bb weight and adjust it before the fight. Novel concept. FPS is 400+ but how much + is anyone's guess. I suppose when it gets chrono'ed we'll know and I'll edit this. Here are pics: Full shot Close up of the bolt group Port side Magazine well area. The front is like the stock VSR-10 and the back is a spring loaded latch from the RS trigger guard. It holds the back of the magazine. It takes longer to load this gun but should not lose any magazines. That's a good thing since they take awhile to make. This rifle is a natural pointer and while very long is balanced nicely and kinda fun. But it is a real tough build. I'd think long and hard before doing another one.

That is beautiful! Only problems I see is the magwell area as you already pointed out.

That sort of says it all Jack. Interesting approach to some of the issues. I had always expected yours to take a different tack. Looks good.

Beautifully done. Modifying clips is a bitch isn't it? I always feared the Mosin Nagant stock was too thin but obviously you proved there is room to accomdate the width of the BB clips.

I'm very interested in making one of these, could you perhaps post more pictures or email me some. Only thing that seems to be a bit complicated is the bolt.

Okay - Gryphon was at a folk fair all last month so I did the magazines for him. This is the finished look. He gets 4 mags and one of them is the high cap variety for the TM Vsr-10 and when cut down provides a skirmishable 20-rounds or so. The other cut downs are good for 10-rounds apiece. Changing mags is harder on this than my Mausers (No.. I didn't design it that way on purpose) because you have the rear latch too. But they aren't going to drop out either. They are nicely flush now and curved with the stock. It is bondo so I am hoping it holds up. If not, he'll have to use something more high tech.

Just saw your post Glymov -
I don't have the rifle anymore. So new pictures are out of the question. As for doing the bolt mod, you need a steel Laylax bolt handle for a VSR-10. Also the real bolt of the MN91/30. Without the Laylax bolt handle you are not getting very far because you can't weld steel to the "monkey metal". You can't do aluminum welding either because the RS bolt handle is steel. Good luck finding the Laylax bolt handles. They run about $56 + shipping but I don't know where any are in stock right now. Once you get one though is is only a matter of welding the pieces together as pictures already posted depict.
