This is an attempt to get the ball rolling on more WWII-themed airsoft OPs/events in the SoCal area. We have longer term goals to follow the Washington based Battlesim/War Dept blank fire/airsoft combo, and are looking to get a dedicated base of players going first.
Therefore for the purposes of this skirmish event, the authenticity standards will be VERY basic and a VERY simple Italian partisan option will be available that just about anyone should be able to field for no cost. As long as you make an effort to substantiate a WWII impresion you will not be turned away (show up in modern gear though and you're a no go). For those with real impressions, tropicals for the Italian front are the principal uniform but any continental uniform will be accepted as well.
The only thing NOT acceptable will be Eastern front or Pacific theatre impressions as those simply are not listed in the order of battle for this particular scenario. That's not saying they won't be available for future scenarios though.
For weapon restrictions, please see below.
Scenario:
Northern Italy, 1945 - events based on excerpts from this CIA article:
The OSS and Italian Partisans in World War II
Summary:
Desperate fighting in the passes of northern Italy's mountainous regions after the collapse of the German Gothic Line left many pockets of ad hoc German units to defend vital access to German rear lines and the PO valley area. One such pass was the Vitirolio Road access that had a small farmstead nestled in a vital roadway intersection. Here, German SS units had set up a radio and defensive position to keep the road open for retreating German units at all costs. A mixed Kampfgruppe of German Para's, SS Panzer-Grenadiers and assorted other units formed an under-strengthed company sized formation. Dug in behind wire and natural rock formations, the unit was ordered to hold the pass and farm at all costs against the large Italian partisan formations wreaking havoc throughout the area, as well as approaching lead elements from both British and American forces. Further orders specified that Partisans needed to be captured for interrogation in an effort to crack the organized Garibaldi Brigades.
Instructions on reinforcements were not forthcoming which lead all to believe that Outpost Vitirolio was on its own for the time being.
Gameplay:
German forces will be defending key strategic postions on the field as well as the farm house. Anti-partisan activities including capture of important personnel/patrol routes and defensive position improvements.
Allied units will be tasked with mission objectives to establish radio connections, disrupt german defensive positions, capture the farm house HQ and other vital checkpoints.
German Forces
Please wear tropical mixed uniform if possible, however any German continental impression will be acceptable.
Any German WWII era airsoft weapon such as the MP 44, StG 44, Kar98, MG 34 or MG 42 is good to go.
