Hi! I'm relatively new to the site. And this is my 1st new thread. Anyway, i was a long time lurker and was greatly inspired by the works of the geat people in this community. Thanks to you guys, i was able to build my own DboysK98/Bar10 or Bar98K, fake-bake my AGM MP40, and fix the wobble issue on the AGM MP44. When i came across Gryphon's post on the PPSh-41, i was blown away! And i really wanted to buy a kit...unfortunately, funds and location were a big problem. So i decided to take the leap and build my own. I took a different appoach to building this. I used and modified realsteel blueprints, and decided to use the back end of the Cyma M14. It's not that accurate to the RS specs but IMHO it's turning out better than expected and it looks the part.... The back end of the Cyma M14. I decided to use this because my wood working skills are untested...I'll be replacing the stock in the future. Cardboard mock-ups of the receiver and barrel shroud Had a local machine shop cut and fold the 1mm sheet steel. Machined solid brass for the breech block. I needed the gearbox to sit in a higher profile so i had to replace the version 7 Cylinder head with a Ver 3 cylinder head and mod the tappet plate to accomodate the new position of the nozzle. Test fitting the main parts: After drilling more holes, fitting screws and bolts and cutting the pins to length, i assembled the gun. No wobbles. I also test fired it today. Flipped it over, put a few bbs into the hop feed tube and fired. It worked great. No misfeeds (at least upside down). Here it is so far...it's an ongoing project. I still have to figure out how to fabricate the drum mag...

Amazing! You look like your another Custom Gun Master! Welcome to the WWIIAA forums. You really did an amazing job on this. Can't wait to see how you come up with the drum mag. Make sure to post pictures of your other customs we'd all love to see them.

Perhaps for the drum mag you could take the internals from an existing drum mag and place them inside a more accurate drum such as the one shown in picture two. I'm not a custom builder but that's the first thing that comes to mind. Anyways great job it looks amazing!

Great job thus far. Very clever. Best of luck with the magazine as with any of these customs the feed system is usually the waterloo of a quality final product. Based on the quality of work shown so far I have no doubt you'll get it handled.
Keep us posted.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm planning to build the drum mag from scratch or maybe using a scorpion or thompson drum mag if i can get my hands on one.

Very nice komrade! I am eager to see how this looks when it is finished, also how come all of you gun makers use CYMA M14? Just curious

Thanks! kalbs - you've got pm over at ww2aaa! @ airbornerocks - i guess the m14 in general has a very ww2 friendly gearbox configuration; and CYMA is the best of the m14 clones.

Looks great! Look up Gryphon on these boards. He fabricates PPSh drums and might be able to help you out.

Wow, thanks! I'm going to try using a TM Scorpion Drum magazine for this project once i can get my hands on it (thanks kalbs!). Unfortunately, it's still severly flooded in a lot of places here in Manila.

The drum magazine is coming along slowly. The scorpion mag internals fit in a tin can i found with the right diameter. I just need a tension spring to use as a bb feed tube....

The PPSh project is almost done. For the drum mag, i used TM Scorpion drum mag internals, and placed them inside a tin can. I drilled a hole in the middle for the winder, then secured the internals with screws. For the feed tube, i coiled GI wire around an inner barrel, cut it to length and shaped it with pliers. This, IMHO is the best way to make a feed tube. It won't kink like tubing, and it won't be springy like a spring. The drum mag is fixed (screwed) unto the reciever. BB's are loaded through a hole in the side (i sill have to fabircate a sliding/rotating cover for this). It fits around 500++ bbs. The best part...no misfeeding! What's left to do: 1) cover for bb aperture 2) further secure the mag 3) front and rear sights 4) hop adjustment 5) trigger guard 6) paint job!!!

That is sweet! I think it ranks right up there with the best custom guns I've ever seen. It looks scary skirmishable.

Thanks! All in all, i spent around USD150 for the materials that i didn't have at hand and for the machining. Looking back, because i had blueprints to base it off from, it was a rather simple project to do (after all the head splitting planning hehe). It was mostly a matter of looking for a machine shop to do the stuff i wanted. I'm glad it turned out OK. So to summarize what was needed for this project:
1)ACM M14/soc16: Stock, gearbox, outerbarrel, hop mech, innerbarrel 2) Scorpion Drum Mag (a thompson drum would work as well, i imagine) 3) 1mm (on hindsight 0.5-0.8 would be lighter and just as rigid) sheet steel, CNC cut and folded for the barrelshroud/upper receiver; 2mm sheet steel for the lower receiver 4) Machined brass for the breech block 5) 3mm sheet styrene for the sights and various bits 6) Tin can/Drum: around 6" in diameter and 1.5" thick
