U.S. Combat Engineer impression from earlier this year. Usually I do 1st I.D., but my 3rd I.D. uniform was feeling a bit neglected

We typically go once a month on the last weekend of the month. when the schedule gets locked down shortly for the next six month's Ill post it in the event its useful. I invite you to join the Regiments forum and the discussion there as one more place to 'talk shop' www.theregiment.uswe are currently working on a large impression guide project for all our ww2 and modern impressions. Is the Viva M1919A4 new? I've never seen for sale at any of the major airsoft retail sites? How much is one?

Nice! Is that a G&G Garand? No, it's an actual M1. Just using it for photos. Saving up for an airsoft one, though. Thanks for the comments. We got over 50 pics yesterday, but I just posted a few.

It is a VZ-24. It is a Czech made rifle widely used by the Germans and Romanians in WWII. It's not technically correct for a Russian soldier. But since I do not have an airsoft mosin, I use it instead.

CactusDivision, it seems your pictures aren't showing up. Here are some of me in my various Russian loadouts trying to look battle hardened. Scout: Winter: Fall/Winter

I was not happy with how my fall pattern Russian amoeba camo was blending in, so I scratch built a summer pattern one. Since I couldn't get enough of the fabric I used for the top, I made two different patterns for the top and bottom. I custom made the fabric by buying a plain green sheet, and then spray painted the splotches on using a stencil. The paint is a bit starchy at first, but after being washed with no soap it becomes soft. I am happy with the results, though the pants are a bit more synthetic looking than I would have liked. Here are a few pics: Russian Scout: Camo Test:

I finally have something worth posting in a Stitch Knot-See thread! My Scottish Black Watch impression reached this level. Let me know if I'm wrong with anything, please. Sorry for the non-flattering photos. Front: Back. Got an extra water bottle, mess kit, and enamel mug in the small pack: Tam O' Shanter: Still can't get these pouches to stand up straight, but oh well. Maybe not true Stitch Knot-See yet, because I need to get all field items (ground sheet, rain cape, gas mask, utensils, etc etc) but I do have the full, basic combat load out ready to go.

looks good! I am not an expert on British gear, but I would say you have a solid France 1940 look. I have read that in combat, a tan cover, often mistaken for the kilt itself, would be worn over the kilt to keep it from getting muddy and wet. From what I have read, the wet kilts could cause pretty bad chafing to the point that some WWI veterans had scars on their legs! I don't think anyone makes reproductions but it would be pretty easy to make with your sewing skills. Nice thing about having a impression like this is all you have to do is swap the kilt for the standard pants and you have a solid black watch Normandy/Market Garden impression. Or even a generic Brit kit. Good job!

Thanks!
The tan cover is actually a WWI item called the Kilt Apron. It was actually mainly designed to cover up all the bright colors from all the other Scottish regiment tartans. Since a lot of them had bright reds and whites. They might have been used in WWII, but I don't think the Black Watch used them in either wars since their tartan was so dark (hence the name Black Watch). Oh, but they do make repros, SoF and WPG selll them.
Speaking of a versatility and WWI, I could easily (and with the drop of about 200 bucks) change this over to WWI Black Watch.

502nd Able Co. Very nice! Just a couple things I see. 1. BAR was not available in numbers to the airborne, but since we don't have an airsoft 30 cal we have to use the BAR instead. 2. Beards are non-military, and unless you are portraying "Week 3 in Bastogne" I wouldn't have one. 3. Your chest and skirt pockets look empty. Stuff them! Paratroopers took with them as much as they could carry, especially in Normandy. Other than that, it looks really good! It's good to see that you're starting to have a full unit of guys with the same impression.
