That is truly amazing craftsmanship, but were MG08s used in WWII?

I've got a couple books with troops posing with MG08s, particularly in France.

That is truly amazing craftsmanship, but were MG08s used in WWII? Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. They where used in WW2 mostly by second line and, foreign troops. I won't lie though I'm building this to push the WW1 idea. I'm a bad boy . Attachments:

Great!! Just recently I was thinking about building one, kind of a scary coincidence!
I was thinking about using a second motor to somehow construct a individual blowback for the charging handle.
May I ask what internals you are planning to use?

Thats actually not a bad idea, if you make the tripod version with the trigger at the rear of the receiver, you could house the compressed air in the entire water container, with the air cable going through the barrel jacket and into the receiver beneath the inner barrel. (Not as mobile, but would allowing for increased air quantity.)
Or, in the case of the bipod version with stock and pistol grip trigger assembly you are creating now, house the compressed air inside the barrel jacket. (More mobile, but at the expense of decreased air quantity.)
Either way it looks very promising! Keep up the good work knowing that a bunch of Spandau/Maxim buffs are following your work avidly!

That is the great thing about this design lots of room to put stuff water jacket idea is a good one. I think I've got a plan for the blowback action. Wish I had more time to work on it....

Had several requests so, here are my measurements give or, take. I'd make a cardboard template first because, I used steel and, mig welding on mine so, I allowed for deformation from heat grinding etc. Attachments:

Making other people want to get involved with WW1 is part of my evil plan . The IMA bipod looks nice but $$. I'm going to make a erzatz model. They are pretty simple and, it will be correct not to mention won't cost more than $10 in metal. Sometimes Kat is a cheapskate ;D.
