Ummm, they're not WW2.
Repro MP-40 pouches are about $50.Good ones. Save your money.
Don't farb out and get something you THINK is ok because it is "cheap".
Plus,its just not period correct...

Oh no, I'm not going for real authenticity here. I'm Korean born, I have an IJA hat with "neck flaps", random camo jacket and pants (non-military style), camo hiking boots, an MP-40. a black shotgun, and an M9. LOL Don't worry I won't be attending any period-based events. I'm just playing with a group of friends.
I just need something that will work.

Now, just to be sure, I do need the Y-straps, right? I can't just loop these things around a belt?

MP40 pouches are able to just be worn on the belt. I've seen this in numerous WWII photos.

The Y Straps will help you keep them up though instead of around your ankles.

Couple of things about that mag pouch They are designed for MP5 mags , which are different in size and shape than MP40 mags , so they will probably fit really tight in there and you will have problems getting the mags in and out of them. That us a drop leg pouch , they hang from your belt and secure around your thigh , which means they will not have the proper belt loop to attach them to your belt at waist level.

Yep you don't need Y straps. As long as your belt is tight the pouches will be fine. I've seen them new for $35. Check ebay or something.

Considering you can buy Repro MP40 pouche sets on ebay for $24.95 I'm not sure why you wouldn't just do that?
