On the conversion page you used is it still ok to use electrical tape?

I used the attached PDF as a guideline. What were you planning on using the electrical tape for? It is better to use the real steel hardware (gas assembly, stock ferule, ect.). Attachments:

Where the ferrle is it says to. What else would i do to attach the handgaurds to the stock. not just by the rear handgaurd snap attachment.

Other then buying a real ferrule I don't think there is another way. The rear handguard attached with the clip and the Gas Cylinder attaches to the barrel keeping the front handguard in place.

You can use a screw and drill a hole to attach it or you can just have the gas lock screw into the threads at the front of the barrel.
