The Winter War was fought between Finland and the Soviet Union in 1939-1940.
Would this be a good idea for winter airsoft reenactments?

You's also need the Russians wearing the SSH36 helmet which are VERY rare, and VERY expensive.

well we could just use the jg bar10 or other vsr10s but limit the amount of ammo each man could carry and some early SMGs were used by both sides

Might I suggest this group: www.ostfrontairsoft.com/They run German vs Soviet but have no issues including US impressions. Great group of guys that run very good games from what I hear and have high standards. Most if not all of them are members here on this site aswell.

When the Swiss were looking for a SMG, besides making their own design, they bought Soumis. Here's an interesting website about the Suomi: guns.connect.fi/gow/suomi1.html

in all respect to the Fins look at this,
26,622 dead fins to 226,875 dead Reds and 400,000 missing
if I recall was this when the fins on skies fast attacked the slower infantry with great success despite there downfalls

The Finnish whipped thier ever living ass in that war. The problem was that Stalin, in the end, shoved Russian asses into the frontline faster than the Finns could whip them.

The Germans know something about that as well..

Haven't actually seen any pictures including a soviet soldier wearing a helmet in Winter war. They planned to defeat Finland easily and quickly so they supplied the army pretty poorly, right?

The Germans know something about that as well.. Soviets did'nt win? The war ended on Moscow Peace Treaty. Of course, if the war would have continued a little bit more, Soviets would have won and there would not be a country called Finland anymore.

Fusilier in a perfect world the correct exact uniforms, gear, weapons znd mix of weapons for each phase of each battle would be replicated to exacting standards at each and every WW2 airsoft event but then....due to extreme limitatioins on availability, selection and costs I guess no WW2 airsoft events would ever be held with more than three or four folks showing up.
Step back into the real world Fusilier it's kind of fun down here.

The Soviets DID come out on top,but they paid dearly for it. It's interesting that at the end of the Continuation War, the Russians opted to negotiate an end of hostilities with the Finns that included ejection of German troops from Finland (by the Finns) and the loss of some territory, but NOT an occupation of Finland by the Russians and installation of a puppet government. Anywhooo, I ran across this movie on YouTube last night and watched part of it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPkNiHslUi8"Talvisota". From what I could gather, it follows a group of Finnish reservists called up for the war. Don't know what they're saying, because they're speaking Finnish (I think), with a voice over in something that might be Polish(?). Visually interesting for the costuming, sets, etc. I found mention of a version with English subtitles on another forum, but the link didn't take me to one. Still looking.

On the subject of Mosins, There are like ten(literally) ways to put together one. Some turn out really cheap and easy to make builds, while others come out extremely nice and worthy for recreating. SO yea, get in touch with gryphon and either buy a few, get some plans, or just attempt your own make of it.

Well, the movie finally arrived Friday (it was backordered). Sat down and watched it. Very well done. Also very sobering. Can't quite imagine what it was like to fight the Russians when they seemed to have an endless supply of cannon fodder.
