Which are the best Repro Stahlhelms? And which are ok for the price? How can you tell good from bad. Is it just the materials they are made of or what? On the other thread someone said Military Tours were great and Spearhead's were ok but had a bad liner and strap, were they just poor quality materials or did they have incorrect stitching? Thanks!

A tad pricey but I don't know. I have a feeling the custom African sandy finish is why they made it $150 instead of $100.

another easy way is go to flea markets.. my buddy was at a local one today an picked up a m-40 with orig winter camo for 150.. an he got a double decal heer helmet at the same place 2 weeks ago for 200 but thats cause it had a concussion fracture

I have never really looked at repro helmets till this week. I picked up a 35 and a 40 back in the day and I had Grisby restore the liners.
The stuff out there is SCARY....misplaced vents, some I have seen on ebay are as much as 1" off. The brims are far to long and flat. They look like a M16 that has WWII features added. The liners I have seen have the same "pleather" look that has been described. ATF has a restock on 40s and 42s. All have been repainted wartime shells with reproduction liners and bands.
My advice is to save up and bite the bullet on the helmet. Orginal shells are drying up. Think of it as an investment.
