This is a metal and wood 1:1 replica BAR with a detachable, folding metal Bipod. It looks great on display or for use in films or photos. It is hollow and was planned to be an airsoft gun but with the 300.00 clone coming out (Eventually maybe? ?) didn't seem worth pursuing. $185.00 shipped in the US

I'll send you a PM with details. It's still available and I still have one dummy Garand as well. The M14, non gun is sold. The BAR non gun is sold also.

Now that Evike is dragging their feet on their inexpensive BAR I really wish I hadn't sold the hollowed out BAR as it was all set up for M14 internals. That said all the Homebuilt BARs are sold and delivered. I have a few more of the Garand non guns in production however. I'm using reject components that I can't use on my airsoft Garand AEGs although the flaws will never show on these solid replicas.

With the Chinese clone BAR apparently now a dead deal. I really regret selling off all my homemade BARs (Although some brought suprising money all things considered) Each of them was somewhat randomly built and the end result was only marginally good. I learned alot from each build however.
I am well in the process of doing up a couple more using the things I learned from the earlier builds. I am taking pictures as I go and can provide a tutorial for anyone else wishing to tackle this project. The base gun is once again a CYMA M14 and this time I am doing more of a build around on the actual M14 which mandates less fabrication time and allows the gun to be more solid and more reliable.
It will still not come close to matching the excellent quality of the VFC replica but should wind up being a decent looking and performing replica and since I don't have $1,000.00 + to sink into an airsoft gun and I have both the time and the desire to build things, it is something I am once again taking on for my own use. (They are Not however anticipated to be for sale).
I am building them so they will use the M14 mags (God knows I have a ton of them!) But I may do up up one show magazine in the proper shape and size for display or each gun. The finished rifles should look somewhat better than my last five BARs but I expect appearance wise it will come out very similar. Again, I am making them for my own use.
They aill be: M1918A1's without the bipod. They will feature Wood handguards and black "bakelight" rear stocks. I may finish the rear butt stocks to simulate wood depending on how they come out looking. I have modelled both stock components after actual parts which I acquired. The receiver group is a molded part although I am going to try building one with a metal receiver group. (I ended up with some attemots that couldn't facilitate the M14 gear boxes so these were done up as dummy non firing guns and I may end up with one or two that fall in that category. Who knows?)
Total materials for your own build should cost somewhere around $200.00 to $250.00 although obviously your main investment will be time and effort.
I am hoping to have them done before the end of the month.

Here are pictures from the most recent batch of BARs I produced. (#s six seven and eight!) I realize that the bipods are not correct I just have them set up that way to showcase the rifles. Each consecutive build is somewhat enhanced from the previous build. The one in the rear is shown in the progress of being built but is now finished with the sites added and the final detail items in place. It features an actual metal receiver group and a bakelight rear stock and actual wood front handguard. On the other two the rear stock is simulated wood. They shoot awesome and while these show the modified properly shaped and sized magazines they are actually set up to use M14 magazines which are slightly longer and thinner. This saves an enormous amount of expense and they look fine at a distance. To correct some confusion expressed in PMs: other than the carry handle and one of the bipods, none of the parts are from an actual BAR The handguard is actually wood and on a couple of the BARs I built the receiver groups have been actual metal but NOT actual BAR components. If you've ever priced these items you'd know why I couldn't afford to use actual parts even if I wanted to to! Everything shown is fabricated and shaped by me to approximate the look of a BAR. As they say in Hollywood no actual BARs were harmed in the production of these replicas.

Those look great! I hate to admit I waited a year for the BAR to come out from Evike, and finally turned the pre pay into a M79.
It's just a matter of time before we all start making BAR's based off your insights. Keep up the great work, I really love your stuff!!

The project is every bit as doable as the M14 to M1 conversion and while it requires a bit more artistry and labor time it does require less in the cost of raw materials. Obviously these last pictures are in the wrong thread as these aren't the dummy non gun BARs I've made in the past but rather the M14 to BAR conversions I've built that actually shoot. I could do up a dummy non shooting BAR for around $185.00 or so if someone wanted a static display gun for film work maybe. The shooting version would run around $600.00 or so I'm afraid and neither is a commercial venture I intend to pursue as the time required is just too great. For now I have some built and some materials on hand so if someone seriously wanted pursue buying one PM me and we'll figure out if I can accomodate you.

I received a PM on a dummy non firing BAR using my appraoch and indeed I can do one up for anyone interested. I would be willing to fabricate one for $185.00 plus shipping. They would be 1:1 scale and weigh approximately 8 pounds. The receiver group walls would be metal and the handguard wood. They would look like my airsoft BAR replicas and would be fine for film or static display. The butt plate flap and sites would move and the sling hardware would be functional otherwise just a chunk of replica. Obviously much much nicer than the paintball stamped plastic deal.

I built three functional BARs with M14 gearboxes inside and have them priced at $600.00 plus shipping . A lot of work but they came out quite decently if I do say so myself. Not perfect but no one is going to mistake them for anything other than a BAR.
In addition I did up a batch of three BAR NON guns. Using parts that I fabricated for the BAR Airsoft project but couldn't use do to fit issues. These I would sell for $185.00 I did some as simulated wood and others showing the bakelight butt stock and handguards. They look great. In many ways better than the airsoft versions as the receiver group is the correct shape and dimensions as there was no need to fit the gearbox inside. These BAR replicas would be great for static display or film work. Everything BAR related is horribly expensive and this is an affordable way to depict this weapon. The non guns look quite good in person and have impressive heft and feel. I don't plan to sell these commercially or make any more although who knows I might. The amount of effort and time doesn't justify this price and I do plan to keep one of each for my own collection which means two BAR airsoft replicas are available ($600.00 each) and two BAR Replica non functioning props are available $185.00 The replica and the airsoft guns include four spare magazines and a sling (Functional magazines in the case of the airsoft guns and prop spare magazines in the case of the replica. (The magazines are metal either way)
PM me if you'd like sample pictures sent directly to your e-mail as I haven't downloaded this latest batch into my photo posting site. The pictures above however are accurate depictions of what they look like.

In answer to some PMs any of these projects if wanted could be completed and shipped within a few days but I leave on another road trip on the 14th of July. If some one wants any one of these items I will focus on it and get it done first. Currently I am finishing up a custom ordered SMLE and doing up a few more Garand kits. otherwise I will follow my own priority of completion or do things around the house which would please my long haired 1st SGT.

i finished another non functioning prop 1:1 BAR Replica (the six one I have built) which has no purposes other than static display or film work. it looks fabulous and is quite heavy and very solid. It is primarily made of fiberglass resin with steel rods inside for strength and weight. I used precise measurements in the build and referenced amy many source photos. it represents the M1918A1which was the most common version in WW2. the color is an appropriate medium dark greyishgreen parkerized look and the butt stock and handguard are a very convincing walnut finish. the price is $185.00 shipped in the US which for a replica BAR is very very good. I have seen other replica non gun BARS go for over $1,000.00 and they didnt look any better than this. i have also sold earlier replica BARs I built on Ebay and while not as well done as this one they all brough well over $200.00 plus shipping.

Most of my BAR builds have been actual airsoft BARs and in fact I have three that are done up as functional airsoft BARs using the M14 as the base. Due to the width of the M14 gear box the receiver group is a slight bit wider than the actual BAR otherwise they came out quite nice. Obviously as a functional airsoft gun they are a lot more expensive than the simple non functioning props ($600.00) They have a correct shaped and sized magazine for staic display purposes but use M14 magazine for skirmishing. Each BAR is shipped with six magazines (Your choice of high caps or low cap magazines) I have now built nine functional BARs each somewhat nicer than the last one.

The home made BAR is priced at $600.00 plus shipping. it comes with a battery and charger an unjamming rod, a speed loader and custom owners manual.

I built a couple more functioning BARs primarily for RECONDO school where it is my intent to equip the VC players exclusively with WW2 era weapons. ( M1 Garands, Grease gun, Springfield, KAR 98 and a couple BARs.) Often times especially after 68 the NVA tried to discuise themselves as VC in areas they held or were moving into by wearing more civilian items and less formalized PAVN uniforms. weapons often were the only way (from a distance) to differentiate enemy forces.
After RECONDO School 16 to 19 August I will sell off some of the excess weapons I made for the event. i will probably have 3 functional BARs, a prop BAR or two, a couple Thompsons, a KAR 98, several Garand AEGs and at least one Springfield.
The least expensive rifles offered will be the prop BARs which I would sell for $165.00 plus $18.00 shipping. The least expensive functional airsoft guns would be the Thompsons at $8o.oo and the least expensive custom rifles would be the Garand AEGs at $395.00 plus shipping. the functional BARs would be reduced to $495.00 which is well below what they have brought on EBAY (usually over $600.00)

I actually still have my custom built BAR available. I had put it up for sale on Ebay after a lack of interest, but I still have it. If you are interested, toss me a PM. I can send you some photos of it and details.

I sold all of mine with one exception which i kept for myself. In truth none of my home built BARs were as well done as Browniens which I saw in operation at two events. If you are interested in a BAR it is well worth considering and you should seek further details from him.
