Garbadine is usually used for dress events. I would just stick with normal feldgrau it is much cheaper anyways.

Its more that a proper officers tunic is tailored, it will look wrong off the peg regardless of the actual cut. As i've mentioned waffen ss officers were allowed to wear ors tunics in the field but its a junior officer thing to be honest. Having said that you're going to look daft as any kind of officer unless you've a unit behind you but you know.... especially at 16 at that rank. If you're worried about budget *dont* go down the officer route, its fa more expensive than ORs if you're going to make it look even half way decent. Personally if i were 16 I'd be tearing my arm off to be able to do 12th SS as a private.. .its the *only* time you're going to look spot on doing it

i was going to do the 3rd SS untersturmfuhrer because of family history, but now that you mention it, 12th SS would be more accurate, what with me being young and all

Most,if not all of the senior NCO's in the 12th were cadre from the 1st SS. Older, experienced veterans, probably in their mid-late 20's early 30's. As Gadge said, portraying a private would be more historically correct.

that's the plan fusilier, the only thing that sucks about the 12th is i'd only be able to do really late-war ost front events

I mean the whole point of this thread is that you're looking to get appropriate stuff cheap or on a reasonable budget. 12ss means you can sort yourself out a set of pea dot or an italian combi rather than spending a fortune on wool and insignia.
