Here is a little gem in the rough: www.souvenirsthemovie.com/This looks to be a great movie with lots of flashback scenes of WWII action. Some I'm told will include airsoft and blank-fire reenactors known to this board. A little buzz and some extra hits to their website wouldn't hurt. They are friendly to the reenacting community. Check out the trailer.

Looks interesting, I just hope they don't have the guys in WWII hold their weapons like that picture of the airborne trooper on their page.

Midwest Ostfront Airsoft sent extras to support the film 5-8 August 2010. Otto, Franz, Wolfgang, and Boris and later Matteaus traveled to Traxler's Hunting Preserve (750-acres) in Minnesota to assist in the filming of WWII segments for this movie. Also provided were the 41' Ford and 38' Ford. They were the true stars during our segment of filming. It was great fun. We were on set for 12-hour days from Thursday through Saturday and left Sunday morning to clean up our gear and catch our breath. This all came about through Travis Jacobsen who has a speaking part in the film and we all wish him well with that. Matteaus is going to get a speaking part too but will be filmed later this year I believe. Here are links to the story of the movie which is looking very promising and I hope you'll all enjoy it when it comes out. As an aside, I also was contacted to support a similar small budget undertaking in Holland MI for the same weekend but had to decline due to the schedule conflict. That was a weird coincidence considering I have done nothing to shop my vehicles around for these opportunities. Word travels fast in the reenacting community and possibly in the future we'll all have other shots at these events. mankatofreepress.com/bigstor....-screenwcco.com/entertainment/souvenirs.movie.mankato.2.1823436.htmlwww.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=861297mankatofreepress.com/local....-Center(This is a cool link because you see a pic of the 41' with Troy and Ryan on the running board.) A couple of pics: The 41' got a new color scheme The French gun was a hoot to operate.

Using reenactors of any kind rarely works. Most are too fat or too old. YES, some of us have the correct uniforms and weapons, but you can usually spot a reenactor a mile away because of how clean he is. This goes for any period, from Rev War to WW2.

Actually, both trucks got the mud splattering treatment and the pic of Mike with artillery truck is before that occurred. Every extra and actor also had makeup and we were all made to look pretty dirty.

Well final shooting for the movie Souvenirs wrapped up this past weekend. The 3rd PZGr provided the former complement (minus my brother who had a family commitment) of myself, Wolfgang and that crossover German player from the 198th, Troy (Boris) B. Along this time for his mortar casualty scene was Matthaeus. Also, Shady Cadence (Dietrich Werner) make an appearance and slipped his nose under the tent. Really... his initiative paid off. The team behind the movie really liked that he had an MG-34 and in Sunday's filming he played a part in front line combat and might end up being recognizable in the movie. They had MG-42's lined up for the shoot but no MG-34's. Rekkon had another scene as well with his blue eyes catching the attention of the stunt coordinator (hmmm?) and he should show up again as a recognized player. Troy (ba64) and I will just be other soldiers running and shooting and probably are not on the road to fame and fortune. But the advantage there is we can now point to anyone unrecognizable in the movie and say, "hey, that's me." They had a new trailer that they showed us on Friday night. Awesome was how I felt about it. Great scene of "Bessie" (41 Ford troop truck) being strafed. Here is some press on the weekend. www.startribune.com/enterta....caEacyUHere are some photos. Now we just wait and see when/if we get called back for the cast party and if they sign a lucrative movie distribution deal that should happen. Can't say when though. Here you see the happy group of stars in the making. Possible new avatar material? Or not. This is second generation FG-42 used in an attack scene. This rifle I guess has never been used in a WWII movie so they made an effort to get it into a scene. This one is special. It is SN#7 and once belonged to Dick Winters of Band of Brothers fame. It was pretty neat holding it but it made me nervous as well since I can't afford to replace it. Sunday night, our team minus Shady who had to work Monday, cleaned most of the cool weaponry along with the owner and armorer on the movie. We all got to handle and field strip and help out and it was fun. Being surrounded by four class III Mg-42's and a couple of FG-42's and three Stg-44's was pretty cool. My Shoei experience came in handy as there are similarities between the Shoei and real steel Stg-44. We were sitting in a pile of a quarter of a million dollars worth of weaponry. Anyways... It was quite a deal. Someday maybe we'll get to do something like this again. These opportunities do crop up from time to time in this and the blank fire hobbies.

Wow! Sounds like a lot of fun!! Some of the FJ guys were just talking about being involved and getting to use the FG42's you mentioned (and showed). They mentioned the Dick Winters connection too! Did the movie company supply any of your uniforms and gear? I can't wait to see you guys on the big screen Autographs will be required the next time I see you guys

I guess we will have to be prepared to shell out big bucks for those autographs ... if they even remember the little people they knew back when. With respect, Fritz

A little mouthwatering update. The new trailer - perspectivefilms.com/approval/clients/Memorial_Day_Trailer/They are shopping it now in front of distributors and we'll soon see. I really like 1 minute seven seconds into the trailer. But you have to watch quick. The new trailer is captivating. I think it gets your interest up.

Well final production is wrapped up and Screen Media Films has the distribution rights for the US and Canada and here is the official trailer. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oNkIQiqp9MAnticipate release around Memorial Day 2012. Most of the reenactors saw this in private screening in Minneapolis area this past month and I for one was very happy with the end product. It exceeded my expectations. Watch for it at a theater near you.

It is available now for pre-order www.amazon.com/Memorial-Day-Blu-ray-Jonathan-Bennett/dp/B007D7GM32/ref=tmm_blu_title_0There are many film festivals and small market viewings scheduled for this movie which comes out officially on the 29th. It has been selected for the GI film festival and is going to Minneapolis Film festival and screenings elsewhere across the country. It didn't hurt that one of our principal actors was on stage at the Academy Awards for his work in "The Artist". Timing is important.

The fellow in the trailer playing him as a young Lt in WW2 really looks like him. I have to believe there is a relationship or just really good casting. The uniforms and vehicles look great

Thank you for commenting on the uniforms and vehicles. The cover for the dvd is stylized art and at the bottom our trucks are clearly getting strafed which is cool since they really didn't. The reason the actor who plays the WW2 young Cromwell looks so much like the older actor is because he actually is his son. Nice guy.
