I am just starting to get involved with WWII airsoft. I dont have anything yet. haha. But i was looking around and this site looked good. What would you guys say? www.reww2.com/Im looking to buy the black Waffen SS M42 helmet. M36 NCO wool uniform Is that a bad mix? And of course im going to get all the field gear. But id like to know if that would be alright. Im trying to go for the grey uniform look. I know it wasn't very common. But i like it better. Please dont give me to much flak haha. And while im here does anyone know of an airsoft group that plays in South Carolina?

I wouldn't suggest that vendor as I know nothing about it. I'd go with At the Front, Hessen Antique, or Spearhead Militaria for the stuff you need. Also keep an eye out on eBay and on for sale sections in forums such as this.
As for the helmet the color black wasn't used for infantry troops as far as I know, I'd go with field gray. An M36 uniform is fine. An M40 or M42 would probably be more appropriate if you want to fit in well with all scenarios.
When you say "grey uniform look" you mean with no camo? If so having no camo is more realistic as camo is overdone by German reenactors.

I think of them wearing those Grey uniforms. With dark field gear. But ive read a lot online that the true German uniforms had a green color to it. Even the grey uniforms. I know there is field green and field grey. But these guys were saying that all of it was greenish. And yes without camo. haha.

Yes I believe early war stuff was grey and then later on they switched to a grey-green color. Color varied a lot from uniform to uniform. The uniform still has that grey look to it unlike US or British stuff. Check out the color of these guys uniforms, too green for ya? www.svmilitaria.com/images/svmgalleryb1019.jpg

I'd also go with ATF. I have a full M36 uniform in the for sale section if you are interested. May be a little to big. As far as playing WW2 airsoft near you. My team and I run games 2-4 times a year in Athens GA which should be totally out of your way. We have been running games there for several years and welcome newcomers.

It should be fine, depending on what unit you're portraying, and what timeframe.
Just avoid the black helmet. ;-)

Ok so no black helmet. Now i need a k98. If i get all the gear im not going to have much money to spend on it. So i looked at the Dboys but heard it wasn't very accurate. And the tanaka is a to much. And i cant even find one. So i dont know what to do. I want a good kar98. But i dont know what to do.

Well, if you think you will be growing, wait to buy the uniforms, the German uniforms are supposed to look like they fit and not be baggy. But its up to you/

Yea thats what I was thinking. At the end of the battle once being overrun, just take off all my wools, keep my helmet, jackboots, and k98 and run through the woods.

I wouldnt go with an m36 tunic as an SS trooper, they had them but they werent as prevalent as the SS m37s and m39s. An m40,42,or 43 would be more appropriate.
Also, if you dont want camo, I would portray a Heer soldier. I wouldnt say camo is over done by SS reenactors at all, most frontline SS soldiers would have some sort of camouflage.
