Or has there been a recent flood of youthful, incredibly numb pre pubiecent posters on the site? I know that happens from time to time (especially in the summer)but when it does it makes me crazy and actually makes the site uncomfortable to visit. Lately it seems worse than ever.
Should the moderators be allowed to ban a poster for no other reason than an apparent lack of maturity? This isn't an age thing as I have followed some very young very positive contributing members but rather a maturity issue.
When it's really clear that a post has been made from someone very young or simply not very bright I think they should be thrown off the site so as to not detract from the attractiveness of the web site.
Cruel I know but in the interest of the masses I propose this policy be adapted. The pablum set simply refects badly on the community as a whole and hurts our credibility as a hobby. If three or more moderators see a pattern of numbness in a member I suggest he be asked to come back in a few years or step into the G2 tent and take several deep breaths.
What do others think?

Simply put I agree. If the younger member makes a bad post, is corrected, and learns well and good but a series of poor posts and random nonsense or just lack of any thought or reason reflects poorly on everyone in the forum and the hobby itself. Perhaps a 3 strike policy should be adapted/ adopted?

I agree with maturity level, it is pretty bad lately. But it is only a couple of weeks until ... " The most wonderful time of the year?" What about giving them their own section, like a young guns section and have them post away?

Well I'm sure we all would be in hot water depending on what is considered a strike but you Tom contribute positively to the WWIIAA community, whereas some younger folk.... well... don't?

i understand the issue, i've only had that problem with 1 person on the WW1 forum, i like the 'Young guns' idea, you can even edit it so they can only post there, just my 2 cents

Yea but when I first joined on here I didn't. You just have to be careful to to cut off people who will mature and contribute positively. We were all dumb when we first started

I remember back when you were first on, there were some PMs asking you to tighten up your shot group and you zeroed in very nicely. I wish we were that fortunate with everyone. As moderators we'll try to monitor and PM the teeny boppers and if they fail to heed the suggestions will ban them.

Thanks 2nd Bat. When I joined here it was pretty much my first online forum. Pretty much my first experience interacting with people who were often twice, three, or four times my age and experience level. I had more trouble on other forums then here though. Honestly you guys were pretty lenient. Once Gordak gave me a weeks(edit 4 weeks) ban and I got him to cancel it lol ;D thanks Gordak I remember one of the charges was for starting a thread titled "Is the 1928 thompson a look good" I've seen a lot since then.

When the young folks come on they often come with enthusiasm and passion but along with it no sense for what is viable and realistic. "Dude I would sooooo build a tank in my back yard with tracks and fully motorized." Or want to go on endlessly about what gun to buy or ask a litany of questions easily available in other threads if they only looked.
Grammar and spelling of course are the other issues. It really drags down the site and I am really appreciative of the young members who take the time to think about their questions, take time with their posts and are careful to contribute, not detract from the maturity of the Forum.
At 60 plus years I have earned the right to be a grumpy old man.

It might be a good idea to enforce at least somewhat proper spelling and grammar. I don't think that is too much to ask, theres always spell check.

And all these young kids want to do teh SS, or teh airbornze!
I've been seething as well with all this nonsense but kept my opinions to myself. Unfortunately, theres no such thing as free speech on here, and people can't take a little constructive criticism.
OK, fire away...

I tend to call it like I see it,which sometimes doesn't come off well! I've chatted with others on here offline who feel the same as me or worse, so its not me! lol! It just irks the crap out of me in this so called golden age of information, that people still buy dumb stuff when the info is all around to prevent that! Back when I got into reenacting we had bad movies and the library! No interwebz to help us. and NO reproductions like there are now. But I digress...
