101st Airborne 502nd PIR is going to be our primary impression. However, we will also allow any of the glider or support units should you want to go with an engineer, or artillery, or medical, signal corps, ect. 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment 327th Glider Infantry Regiment 401st Glider Infantry Regiment 321st Glider Field Artillery Battalion 463d Parachute Field Artillery Battalion 907th Glider Field Artillery Battalion 377th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion 81st Airborne Antiaircraft Battalion 326th Airborne Engineer Battalion 326th Airborne Medical Company 101st Parachute Maintenance Company 101st Signal Company 101st Counter Intelligence Corps Detachment Here is an example and guide to US gear both para and glider infantry as well as good sorces for the gear and uniforms: www.sacairsoft.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,40/page,viewtopic/t,27727/ And here is a guide to US weapons and sorces to get them: www.sacairsoft.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,40/page,viewtopic/t,27674/ Keep in mind with the weapons that most US GIs had the M1 garand. The Thompson was mainly issued to Officers and NCOs. At this point m14s or m1 Garands are required, We have enough Thompsons already, although I realize they are the easiest weapon to get. If you want to use another gun please check with me. Also, remember that for the most part only officers had sidearms in WW2, so don't everyone run out and get a 1911. At this point I'd rather see people focas there efforts on getting a good basic impression before worring about having a ww2 weapon. Right now the only requirement is you are working on a historicly accurate impression. Unit min requirements (para): m42 jacket m42 trouser M1 helmet (perfered m1c) Cartridge belt, Pistol belt, or BAR belt canteen pouch w/ canteen 1st aid pouch M36 suspenders (a few '43s mixed in will work) jump boots Glider: wool shirt (or HBT) wool trousers (or HBT) M1 helmet Cartridge belt, Pistol belt, or BAR belt canteen pouch w/ canteen 1st aid pouch M36 suspenders (a few '43s mixed in will work) Service shoe with leggings Do. your reseach. We have a pretty good little unit starting. Feel free to ask questions either here or PM me. Thanks. I actually have yet to wash my uniform and played airsoft almost every weekend in them for a year. They just hide dirt pretty good. The other two in the pictures do have brand new unifoms and gear.
Although we are primarly doing the 101st, any US or British impression is welcome. There are currently 6 of us and possibly one Brit soon.
We'll planning on staring pure WW2 games sometime in Febuary or early March.

That's great. Perhaps you'll find it worthwhile to make your way up to Washington State for some our large WW2 events. Jump to Destiny will undoubtedly be an annula event and it attracted players from all over the country with a dozen coming up from So. California
Look at the pictures in the West Coast G-3 section. The event always simulates the night drop and next days action in Normandy.

I actully have family in Washington so I may take the whole week off and make a vacation of it. Hopfully I can get a few more of the unit to come up with me and I know some of the 12th SS guys we play are also planning on coming. Looking forward to it.

Will I get yelled at for wearing French 2 buckle boots Any games coming up this summer? I've got most of the kit for a late war leg infantry. I'd probably be playing a straggler from another division (since I'm usually running around confused anyway).

We aren't super fussy yet. We are all always working on our impressions. Where are you located. Hopfully some games soon although the weather gets rather hot for wearing full impressions in the summer.

Still looking for more folks interested. There are about 6-8 of us right now and we would love to have more. Even if you have an infantry impression and are interested in some ww2 games in Northern California, come play with us! We have limited loaner gear, for one (smaller) person. A number of loaner ww2 guns, and a .30 cal 1919 that needs a MG crew.

WHY does everyone have a shoulder holster?? Every guy didn't have a sidearm unless you were an officer. And is that an M14??
And roll around in the dirt some, you guys are WAY too clean! And tuck those boot laces in!

I've actually got rid of my shoulder holster. That was actually from a non-ww2 game and the sidearms were needed. Yeah, they are m14s. I am the only one with a convertion right now.... AND I was quite clear that I would rather have folks have good impressions and work on the weapons later. We are working on it, I'm not about to tell someone they can't have FUN with us becuase they are not 100% yet. If that turns SOME people off then so be it, I don't need that kind of BS anyway. We are all doing this for FUN and it's no fun to have someone point out every little thing that isn't right.

Bay area people, come up and play a sacair game with us this summer, in your ww2 impression. I'd really love to meet you guys even if it's at a modern game. We are really wanting to get some more people from outside Sacair involved. WW2 games will be happening this fall for sure, so come up and play some airsoft with us, get to know each other!
Other US impressions are totally welcome. Although we are primarly an airborne unit, we are not going to turn you away if you have an infantry, or glider impression!

You guys should both register at Sacairsoft.com and then just wait for a game to pop up. Should be one real soon. I've got the same online name over there.

I don't know for sure, but I recall reading a long time ago that a lot of the enlisted men in parachute units acquired sidearms on their own, either through purchase on the civilian market, getting relatives or friends to send them one, or bartering with armorers. It was a different time. Things were often a lot looser than they are today.

It was so hard to not laugh during those photos. During the Summer or for non WW2 games we are going to run USMC impressions.

They mention a lot of paratroopers acquring their own .45's If memory serves me correctly the section on it was around Holland. During Normandy a lot of paratroopers had gotten stuck in the trees and were bayoneted, shot and some had their throats cut, because they couldn't get to their rifles. So many of them started acquiring their own sidearms.

Ah and it was a blast meeting you guys. Thanks for being such a good sport during the photo Go4Broke. We'll hopefully be getting another WW2 based game going in September. We've got a good squad going now. We will definitely be making a showing at the next JtD!

Sure SOME of them had a pistol, but not everyone paratrooper had one.

No one ever said "every" paratrooper had a .45. Just more then leg infantry would have had. Originally ALL paratroopers were going to have them, however this was not actually practiced. Those who were around early kept there sidearms. So there were a lot of paratroopers that wouldn't have normally had a sidearm that had a .45 on them.

Hey 101st!
I have been wanting to join a WWII group for some time now. Just didn't know we had anything in our area. I live here in the bay area. I have been a WWII enthusiast all my life and am an avid tactical airsoft player and had my own team down in Socal. How do I join the 101st? Any info would be appreciated
Thanks,
Damir CRO-ARMY

Register on www.sacairsoft.com we have a WW2 Airsoft section for the forum. Keep an eye out for games that you can make it too. The next game I'll be hosting is August 16th. It won't be a WW2 Game, but Ryan (hairy_apple) and myself will be present. Mean time touch basis with Ryan via PM or Email (listed above). He handles the bulk of recruitment etc for our 101st portion of the group, while I handle the bulk of chores with our secondary summer impression "Marine Raiders" group.

Come on up to our next game and meet us!
Go register at Sacairsoft.com and wait for a game to pop up in the events forum.
Come play some games with us and see if you like us and like the folks we play with. We have games fairly regualrly and will start having "pure" ww2 games soon. We've been doing USMC impressions for the summer but the 502nd is the main impression. The marine stuff is just for fun.
