well i looked this up a little more in-depth, and apparently the marines used the 20 round magazine at the beginning of the war, (with both the 1928 and m1a1), but in december 1941, the 30 round magazine was approved standard and quickly phased out the 20 round magazine. as you say your an european-theatre airsofter, 30 round magaines are correct since the marines never faught in the ETO. not to mention the 20 round magazine pouches had 5 cells with two of them on a belt, and the 30 round magazines had 3 cell pouches (2 of them as well).
Throughout the war the 20 round magazines were the most common for the Thompson. The 30 round were very popular of course and used when guys could get them. Incidently soldiers continued to use the five cell pouches even with the 30 round magazines They just wrapped the strap around the magazine and snapped it into place.
The late war Grease gun pouch was a three pocket pouch and it was used with Thompson magazines as well. Most guys who carried a Thompson during the war say they used the GP bag to carry mags in typically.
Stalin should have known communism wouldn't work. There were red flags everywhere!"
Dracul: It looks like it lost a lot of steam and I now feel bad for randomly dropping off.

stuka: I mean it's not your fault. It is interesting though that things are falling off as we are finally getting our ww2 guns with the type 38/96 and the enfield as well as it recieving a new loading system, it's kind of unfortunate

Dracul: I don't know, maybe its because all the guns are becoming available, there is a decreasing need for the forums.

Dracul: Most of the talk was about making guns, as all the uniform info was already out there, but now the weapons are out there and are usually decent quality.

savoy6: anyone know if anyone still carries the enfield?

Dracul: I think Redwolf has a Enfield. If not or not longer, then not until G&G releases theirs. The old gas Iron Airsoft brand SMLE isn't carried by anyone anymore and was such piece of crap. Not worth trying to track one down.
