Has anyone tried a conversion with a G&G Full Metal M14 Ver. 4/Real Wood M14 or a Classic Army Full Metal/ Real Wood M14?
I'd like to see if it's possible to convert these into a M1 Garand or a Garand Tanker. It's been a bit of a interest of mine that just started burning with passion to try a conversion :]
If anyone has tried with one of these rifles please respond!

2ndbat has converted a CA/G&G M14. You can pm him. The CA/G&G m14s gearboxes are much more durable than the marui/cyma gearboxes but there is a disadvantage when using this for a garand conversion: I don't think the shotgun mags fit in the CA/G&G magwell.

I have done five of my Garand conversions using the GnG set up. The magazines are a challenge as they have the upper zig zag configuration. You can shorten those magazines to where they are flush mounted but it is a major major time consuming and expensive way to go.
Unless a guy already had a GnG M14 and was especially in love with it as a rifle I really wouldn't recommend going that route. The GnG base M14 is also considerably more expensive and in my opinion not significantly better than the CYMA o32.

Thanks for the quick replies WW2AA! I understand the problems with the G&G magazine which I personally don't mind. On the contrary I'd like to use an m14 magazine to my Garand convert as a more modern mix since it is possible for a M1 Garand to be modified to use M14 magazines. Also planning on converting some magazines to sit flush for a more genuine look but that is of course for later The CYMA o32 was one of my options but for the plastic body I'd like to stay away as I'm looking for a full wood stock conversion. @ 2nd Bat Did you convert a CA real wood M14 yet? If so, is there any much difference between the CA and the G&G externals?

Three of the six GnGs I converted had wood stocks. The GnG has a more authentic M14 stock which is thicker and more robust in appearance than the Marui/ Marui clone stocks. As a result the M14 stock although certianly not perfectly shaped as a Garand does work better un alterreed than the Maruis. If you are comfortable with the M14 mags the GnGs CAs would work fine. My pre shaped stock augmentation piece of course would not fit but as mentioned earlier is not as critical.
As with the Maruis be sure you are using the Long version M14. Incidently The Italians did a post war rifle that was essentially a Garand with a box magazine,

Just to concur on 2nd Bat's words, be sure of the long version of the M14, you will not be able to depict the Garand with versions like Scout or SOCOM. Recently, I had 2nd Bat made a Garand kit for my CA M14, and I forgot to mention it was the Scout model. The rifle looks more like the Tanker version, which is not bad, but it's historically inaccurate and not what I was lloking for (again, this was due to my fault) The magazines are almost impossible to make and keep a reasonable budget, and I have tried a couple of dozen different options, to no avail. The best that I can do is use the internal mag of the TM PSG-1 with minor modification, which of course will not sit flush.

thanks for all the replies mates. greek that's a lovely comp with the 1911 short trigger, would that be a WE?
@2nd. Thanks for the heads on regarding stock body structure. That saves a lot of time guessing the build quality.
You have stated that you have converted 6 G&Gs into Garands. How about CAs? Are they any more different compared to the G&G. Is the build quality on the CAs any better or worse?
Also If I'm going to buy a G&G it'll be the G&G M14 Veteran (latest version) which internally works flawlessly. Has anyone purchased a veteran yet? I'd like to know the build quality :]
To me the whole point of this thread is to figure out the difference between build quality of both companys m14s

The G&G and CA M14s are almost identical but not exactly interchangeable. Small differences in internals. I'm more partial to the CA though as they have more affordable aftermarket parts than G&G. But as 2ndbat has said, G&G has better wood stocks.

Hi, would it be possible to use the CA M14 'match' (all black stock) and convert it into an M1 Garand?

Yes,
The challenges still exist with the magazines but the stock can be sanded down and treated and stained in such a way that it can be made to look okay.

Would it be better to use a CYMA M14 rather than the CA M14?
I think it might be a better choice.
