I have had a CYMA Thompson for about a year or two and I wanted to upgrade it with better internals. I don't know what is good to use so I leave that to you guys to help me. I also want to put real wood on it.I cant find a place that sells the wood kit. I also want to repaint it and I cant find what looks close enough to the real thing for paint. I would like to try and make it into an M1928a1 Thompson when I get money for this huge project because I love to make things. this project wont happen for a while because I'm saving my money for an M1 Garand for a Christmas present.

Hey ...
I have a highly modified CYMA M1A1 Thompson ...
Forget the wood kits. They are expensive for very cheap wood. The plastic stock is more durable. See my post on aging the plastic wood to make it look real ... "Weathering a CYMA M1A1 Thompson". Can be done for pennies in just an evening of work.
The XYT gears that were stock on my gun are very good gears, I didn't feel they needed upgrading.
The air system was completely replaced. The piston was sloppier that an old lady in a house in New Orleans and the air nozzle leaked like the Titanic.
I replaced all the nylon bushings with steel.
I down graded the spring to an M110 and installed a Systema Turbo motor ... gets 20 rps with a 9.6v NiMH battery and 350 fps ... stay away from 11.1v Lipos ... they can ruin your internals by causing high stress.
Also installed a 6.01 mm tight bore barrel.
Also installed deans connectors thru out the gun.
Hope that helps.
