I think it would be great for a guy on a $50 budget. Plus, those tsd m-14s hold up very nicely, and shoot at a very decent FPS.

I can't believe no one is interested in this.

I think no one's interested because 1) its a springer 2) it still uses the M14 Mag 3) it still looks more like an m14 than a garand 4) I don't think anyone would actually field this in an actual airsoft event 5) it isn't event display worthy. No disrespect, just honest observations.

ehh, it would be alright for a backyard battle but it kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth. its kinda just a repainted m14, for that effort on the TSD id rather just live with those burlap ak's :/

Hmm I thought I was the only one who considered that=/ Before I found a M1 Garand AEG off ebay, I wanted to try this out. But it really is'nt realistic at all, and from a far distance still looks like an M14. Can't wait for Christmas to get the AEG one though, I tested it before and it was perfect. It looked like it went through WWII, but I think it was weathered. That or the guy nuked it

This was a neat idea but is like those 16in barrals on thompsons at blank fire events a total resemblica where it sorta looks like a garand but then really doesnt

I'm going to do it for sure. And for Jimmi; being a springer isn't always a bad thing especially in this case.

What ever floats your boat. If he took the time to bondo in the heat shield to resemble a upper hand guard he sould have gone ahead and filled the screw slots and continued the hand guard further forward on the barrel and lower gas rod. Ultimately reshaping the lower stock would be nice and creating flush mounted magazines. Obviously if you went to all that trouble you might as well just do an AEG conversion and have something worthwhile to skirmish with.
As it is, it looks like a comical effort to create a franken gun. I hate to be harsh but you asked for input. The springer M14 looked like a pretty nice $50.00 airsoft replica (Which is kind of like saying for a fat girl she doesn't sweat much.) This modification effort ends up looking like a $15.00 toy. It's just silly looking.
The bottom line however is it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it's your money and your investment of time. A little bit of extra materials and additional effort and it could end up looking at least passable as a Garand. My suggestion is if that's all you can afford invest the additional time and do it up nicer. The lessons learned in doing so can be applied later when you invest in a proper base gun and end up with something viable.
Don't worry about doing it all over so it can no longer be disassembled the fact is a springer isn't worth fixing if it breaks anyway.

Ill be honest, I think it looks like crap, and I would probably just beat it up against a tree.

i agree with deacon. and 2nd bat. its too much effort into a lost cause. it just looks like an m14 with a rod slapped underneath the barrel.

I actually came up with a design for a springer M1, and it would function like a real one, using Marushin enblocs, and the clips would pop out, but it was a very intricate design, and would be a pain in the ass in a skirmish. the bolt would basically have an airsoft bolt action function. you insert the clip after opening the bolt. if it has ammo, it locks in place. when you smack/push the bolt forward, the bolt goes over the inserted enblock, while loading a BB, and inserts it into the barrel. then BAM, then repeat the single shot 8-15 rds, and when its empty, the clip flies out, or it would just pop up enough to remove it. Another good idea, but not worth the effort.

bottom line - springer m1/m14 is not good for real airsofting.
