Just figured I'd share this short film a buddy of mine in college made for his mid-term. The film is based on a real event that happened in WWII on the Italian front. I'm in this movie along with the rest of the blankfire unit I'm with (Another reason I wanted to share this with you all! )

Every gun in this production is a real steel and vintage WWII except for one M1 Garand which is a dummy (The one the German yanks away from one of the GI's in the ambush scene).
My particular favorite was the MG42 which is owned by the gent that holds it. He managed to get it for a steal at $3000 dollars (with all applicable paperwork obviously) and I tell you that thing is one scary piece of equipment to stare down the barrel of.
The next time I get a chance I will talk to the director and see if I can't get a link or something solid on the movie's original base events but from what I was told, this short movie was based on an account of a Medic's unit that was captured during the Allied invasion of Italy because of the poor map-reading skills of the Sergeant. The German unit had been without radio communications and were unable to get word on what to do with the Americans they had captured and so they simply held them captive until they could get a radio and figure out what their high command wanted. During their captivity the Germans and the Americans got to being on friendly terms with one another and finally the Germans managed to get a hold of a radio and found out that they were to execute all of the Americans. The German leadership within the unit that captured the Americans did not want to do this as they had become on friendly terms so the German officers let the Americans go and radioed back to the German command that the 'situation had been taken care of'.
Due to time, money, and people constraints as well as the small area we had to work with the story was condensed and altered slightly.
All in all it was an awesome time. It was all filmed in a single day within a relatively small area that consisted of the few buildings you see in the film and the roads that circle around them.
P.S. I am the Yank that gets shoved and who's helmet comes off leaving behind the jeep cap on my head!
