I am new to this forum and am very glad to be apart of it. Originally I was going to be a Soviet, but sense it is more uncommon to be one, I am now going to be British. I have visited a few websites to see what my options were on my budget, and I am not going quite entirely historical with any army group or regiment, just a British WW2 soldier. So far I have found gear and supply for the whole loadout to come to a sum of about $250 (shipping and everything). Here's the plan: -AGM Sten Sub-Machinegun ($130 on ehobbyasia.com) -British Turtle Helmet ($25 ima-usa.com) -WW2 British Trench Coat ($15 sportsmansguide.com) -WW2 British Hand Bag ($20 sportsmansguide.com) -A pair a khakis (already own) -Hunting boots I already own -2 spare Sten mags ($9 a piece on ehobbyasia.com) -And just for fun, British WW II 24-Hour Rations – Spam ($20 www.reprorations.com <---- awesome site) Thanks! Please comment and give suggestions!

Hi. If you decide to go British send me an email and I will be glad to send you some British military canned goods lables and you can print them off yourself and put them on your own cans. That would be fairly cheap

ok forget the trenchcoat... thats not anything to do with the infantry, in fact i'm not even sure it's wwii.. i think its a 1960s - 1980 issue raincoat. I've *never* seen one in a WWII photo. Turtle helmet limits you to Normandy Assault divisions and *very* late war... get a MKII instead does you from 38 to 45 then. I have no idea what the 'hand bag' is... i think it might be the 'small pack' listed as a'shoulder bag'. This is an essential and a fantastic price. In the UK these are actually getting scarce in good condition. TBH... the real essentials you should go for are: One set of wool battledress or Khaki drill shirt and trousers (probably more useful if you live in Texas). One set of 'skeleton order' 1937 pattern webbing (belt, cross braces, 2x basic pouches) MKII tommy helmet 1 pair of web anklets (sabre sales in the UK have these for about GBP £3) 1 pair of black ammo boots. Anything else is window dressing really. Here's some pics that I hope might help you out: UK Airborne UK Airborne in Khaki Drill desert kit Commando (good as you can get away with the light weight 'denim' uniform) or wear the wool as in this late war commando look Desert SAS Chindit Jungle Fighter Med theatre SBS Tank Crew (always called 'tankies'... calling tank crew 'tankers' in the uk is a good way to get a kicking ) Late war line infantry with turtle helmets And regular mKII wearing inf corporal Late war SAS Early war Highlander Very late war Brit inf in windproof camo suit Loads of options available but they all tend to use the core of BD, anklets and 37 webbing. Hope they might inspire
