Wow, cool stuff.
It's pretty interesting to see war surplus and how it was used literally everywhere during the Cold War, and French Indochina is no exception.
Another area that interests me greatly is the Congolese use of anti-Castro Cubans to fly T-28 Harvards and B-26Ks in COIN roles during the Congo Crisis of the 1960s.

The French aircraft industry stagnated in the 1930's. They were just starting to get their act together with some decent designs when the war started. And that was it for the duration.

Nice to see some old things back into service. They should have taken some of our p-51's ;D Not sure about P-51's, but they did use F6F Hellcats, F8F Bearcats and A-26's in Indochina.

probably used them cuz french planes suck Need to read up on the Dewoitine D.520 , it was the best French Fighter at the beginning of WWII , it was slower than the Me 109 , but it was a hell of a lot more maneuverable than the 109.

They liked FW190 and Yaks in Europe. Great planes, too.
A lot of Dewoitines were never put to battle, because someone in the French military bureaucracy thought them too expensive to be 'hurt'. I believe the Germans gave them to the Hungarians on the Eastern front later. Oh, well. We have issues here in Europe...
