Please do not confuse this event in November (located in Rhode Island) with the "Battle of the Bulge" event I will be holding at GZA, CT. in January 2012.

While I applaud the effort I have a few concerns about the RI event.
1) It appears that are allowing modern weapons (ie. M249, M240 ...) 2) Appears period gear is welcomed but not mandatory 3) Part of the play is on a Paintball field and I have heard that can really mess up your period uniforms
Would probably have attended if these 3 items had been tightened up.

Its a theme op not a true reenactment. For the area these are very common and I have never been really disappointed by any,I have been to. Its true most people will have modern guns and gear but it is still fun. I rather attend a ww2 theme game than not attend a game at all.
Also It inspires people to get into the ww2 pew pew. If it was not for going to theme events I would never have built a German Loadout. Hence the old saying Monkey See Monkey do. The benefits far outweigh any negatives. It appears that the event runners are trying to get 100 + people. That means possibly more people for the ww2 airsoft community.
Also I spent years doing paintball and as long as you dry clean (or wash it your self) within a week you will not have to worry about the paint ruining your stuff. If you are that concerned wear a zeltbahn.
Though the Warzone RI website has no info it appears the Cost will be 25$ per person.
The address is 320 shermantown road North Kingston Rhode Island.
I have not played here in years and what I remember of it the place is not half bad.

yeah it's a themed game, but world war two none the less but if more people spread the word and go than the world war two people will out number the modern dudes

I rather attend a ww2 theme game than not attend a game at all. I hear you CDI and considering how our reenactment group has been performing lately with events I can see how these modern/period combo efforts are better than nothing. I do have great concern over the paint ball field however. We do not dry clean or clean our tunics so any kind of paint on them would be a problem. Again, I am by no means criticizing and would certainly welcome the opportunity to attend one of these events. I am just hoping that in the future the restrictions get tightened a little so that more reenactors might be willing to attend.

Think of it as a ambassador program to recruit some new people we could obviously use

NO uniform requirements?? Warm "cloths" Sounds like my kind of event! lol! Cryonics is right. We spend a lot of money on correct period uniforms to get them ruined by paint. And no,dry cleaning is NOT an option.Dry,cleaning ruins wool uniforms. Modern weapons? Why call it WW2??

Dry Cleanings NOT an option? Well why has the dry cleaners down the street from me be cleaning my Wool Swiss tunics and pants, east german over coat and soviet over coat for almost a decade now. ( I used to be huge into paintball especially ww2 Pball games) They never ruined any of them and trust me id give them to them in all different shades of green, blue, yellow, pink, white, orange ect ect. Granted I don't know what it would do to litzen or shoulder boards but it did not harm the breast eagle. Just my 2 cents.

Mini AAR: Well I went to the game, I was the only one in period uniform with 54 people, also only 1 other person had a ww2 gun , Field was easy to get to though I drove by it 3 times, the sign is located behind a farm propertys house and is very very small. Also the road into the field is horrible and if you have a car I recomend you find someone with at least an SUV or truck. Regardless of the lack of authenticity and what Not I still had a great time with my new load out, met some great people and in general enjoyed my self, that' is all that matters in airsoft. the warzone field is amazing. If anyone is familiar with New England Fields its basically a Fox4, UBG and RPC all wrapped into one. I used my WE 6 inch luger with snail mag and stock + a panzerfaust (getting several kills during the day including a medic who was healing several allies) and my upgraded agm mp40. Also ate another repro ration on field. It was great and tasty as always I got many comments on my loadout and some complaints. I guess a breast eagle holding the swastika was to much for three people. But it was a "ww2" game so their lack of knowledge made their comments easily dismissed. I feel I converted several ppl to ww2 soft as most people were very impressing and were asking tons of questions about all aspects of my loadout. So here are the videos. 25 minutes of greatness. part 1 www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=DUZ4dm5iWFcPart 2 (first minute has a panzerfaust kill) www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXrdKZB5KGM&feature=related

That's what scared me away. I knew it wasn't going to be a WWII game and there would only be a few people besides me in period impressions but I can't believe you were the only one! I also knew that I would be yelled at by a few noobs because I was in German uniform. Glad it turned out good though

But it was a "ww2" game so their lack of knowledge made their comments easily dismissed. That is troubling to hear and concerning. If one is going to recreate a WW2 themed event then one would expect to dress according to the period clothing and emblems. The thought that people would complain about you wearing a swastika which is exactly what was worn during that time by the Axis forces is very shallow minded. In all the WW2 events I have attended, this has never been an issue. I wonder if these same people playing WW2 video games would have a problem with the swastika being displayed in the game as they do in these airsoft recreations. When I played cops and robbers as a child I would sometimes just play the "robber" this did not mean I was an actual robber. Some people have a hard time distinguishing fact from fiction and it is very sad.
