First I would like to thank all those that came to support this event and JP for his contributions to the event. Without his aid this event would not have happened. Being Mayor of my small village in Belarus I hoped that I would be able to avoid bloodshed for my people. With the German camp set up so close to my village partisan action soon thrust my village right into the middle of the war.
Saturday morning I listened from my office to the sounds of Partisan forces doing a surprise assault on the new German camp while they were still organizing their units. Second hand reports told of a massive firefight with both sides taking just minimal casualties. Those casualties were enough to bring the German might right to my doorstep.
Soon the SS were rounding my people up and pulling them out of their homes searching for those responsible for the attack and looking for vengeance. I tried to work with the Germans and keep my people out of danger. They were tipped off about some outsiders that were camped outside the village in a nearby swamp area. German forces quickly wiped them out and found valuable intelligence about an ammo cache in a communal farm just north of the village. That would be there next target.
As German forces made their move towards the ammo cache, Partisans began to ambush them on the march north. These attacks were ferocious and constant and forced the Germans to withdraw.
As the sun began to set, German forces were again attacked at their camp. This time Partisan forces inflicted much more sever casualties on the invaders but they were forced to withdraw and wait for nightfall.
To be continued...

I would like to start this thread with gratitude for a number of people.
I would like to thank Rapture for putting this tremendous event together. I loved the scenarios and enjoyed reenacting them. Nice job!
I would like to thank Joe for his support and great positive spirit. We need more people like you in this world Joe.
I would like to thank Steve for the long drive from Virginia for only one day. I understand what it is like to get old and get injuries. kudos on you for coming this far and we appreciate your support.
I would like to thank Dunkin Donuts for supplying the free donuts and muffins for both days. Everyone much appreciated them.
I would like to thank the powers that be for allowing me to have a father and son experience for an event that is truly physical. It is truly an honor to be able to have a full weekend with a teenager that will forsake a homecoming night with his girl friend to spend it with his old man for 3 days in night freezing temperatures in a tent.
I would like to thank all those that showed up and exhibited great sportsmanship participating in all aspects of the event whether it be setting up or fighting. Without you, we would not be able to have these reenactments.
Finally I would like to thank my wife for putting up with me and the mess I caused in the house building all these props these past two months. Honey you are a sweet pea and I cherish your support of this teenager in an old man's body.
Let the AAR's begin!

What a great event! Rapture did a great job coordinating with Cryonics and pulled off a great event. It was a lot of fun playing a partisan, and melting into the village after firefights. I was pretty excited to try out my PPsh 41 and was really impressed with it's skirmishability (is that a new word?). JP I agree with your sentiments, as I came up from VA with my Son and picked up my nephew en route for the event. These are the glory days!! There were some incredible firefights, but some hight lights for me were - Joe Migs grenade toss, with the lucky 90 degree bounce around the corner to take out three Germans
- JP's Panzerfaust shot across the compound to take out Partisans
- Dean Migs stepping on a water mine, that covered him in mist, and gave him a cold walk back to the car!!
Thanks to all who attended, I cant wait for the next battle!!

Bravo to Brandon and JP for pulling off this event. What needs to be said right off the bat is that both Rapture and Cryonics had to overcome several obstacles to make this event a reality. JP really stepped up and took the bull by the horns and gave us a quality event. First off, the German base area was spectacular. The period tents, the authentic search lights, the mine field with body parts, the (fake) but real looking barbed wire, the landmines, and all the small props really gave me a nostalgic period feeling. JP armed the camp with a terrifying MG-42 and had a long range panzerfaust that along with the search light made any approach to the village almost a suicide mission. So Kudos to you both for a great set up and a special acknowledgement to Brandon for working out a well executed battle script. The event started off with the Partisans attacking the German camp with a brief shoot and skoot. We quickly fell back, hid our weapons in the woods and then rushed into the village before the Germans came up the road to rouse us. As the Germans entered the village, they quickly assembled us into the village square, lined us up against the wall and searched us for weapons. After the Kommandant and Mayor Brandon spoke in private, the Germans were convinced we were not involved in the raid and let us be. After the Germans left, we knew they would send a patrol out to find our weapons cache, we fell back to positions where we could successfully ambush and thwart any German effort to find our weapons cache. We then pushed the Germans into the village where a terrific fire fight ensued. After a brief lull in the fighting, the partisans executed a terrific attack from several different sides of the village and eventually drove the Germans back to their base. Personally speaking this is where the highlight of the event for me took place. I was towards the rear of the village behind a pallet when I spotted 3 Germans peaking around the corner from the building on my right. Next to me was Steve H. with his trusty PPSH. I asked Steve to fire on the corner to pin the Germans as I pulled out a German grenade. As soon as I tossed it I knew it was gonna be in range, but what happened next was unbelievable. As the grenade flipped end over end, just as it approached the corner it took a right turn and landed right at the feet of the Germans. I thought for sure they would try to flee, but they didn't even realize the grenade was there until it was too late. After the Germans fell back to lick their wounds, we all took a well deserved break and then regrouped for the night mission. This particular type of night mission was something that was never attempted before and I thought it was a great success. The search light that JP brought made the approach to the village very difficult. As I spent the first 30 minutes or so of the mission crawling through the spider hole trenches I was constantly reminded of Steve McQueen in the movie "The Great Escape". There were four of us up on the ridge and we moved maybe a total of 50 feet over a period of 30 minutes. The spotter on the search light did a great job at sweeping the area and the Germans in the forward positions constantly pelted us with probe fire and an occasional grenade would try to make it's mark. My squad decided to split up and try a different approach as we were getting nowhere. Fortunately we took advantage in a lull in the search light and skooted away towards the swamp side and front gate. At the front gate I met up with Mr. Mayor who was armed with only a knife and I believe one grenade. He and I crawled our way inch by inch towards the gate, it was there I threw my grenade towards the search tower, but to no avail I missed and had to retreat. All throughout my painful advance, I observed small sporadic gun fire from both sides with the majority of the fire and grenades coming from the Germans within the camp. It was then I heard the bellowing of a German from within the camp. I thought someone had continued to fire on someone who already called a hit. But that was not it. Soon after, this segment was over. After a short break and "other" activites, we reloaded and moved out to occupy the Village once again. This time the Germans objective was to capture a VIP and bring him back to their camp as a hostage. The VIP was placed in the center of the village like a sacrificial lamb as we set up defensive positions. The highlight of this portion was on two occasions, a brave soldat ran into the town center, grabbed the VIP and yelled out "You shoot and I'll kill him" so what did we do? Well I shot him in the back and someone else threw a grenade and killed both he and the VIP. The next brave soldat tried a similar approach and he was deftly shot in the leg and killed. Lots of laughter reigned down as the Germans thought we would give them the VIP upon threat of his death. But we told them we didn't care and the VIP was considered collateral damage ;D. The night mission was now over and we all gathered around the German camp fire for the next hour or so. It was great shooting the bull with everyone and reminiscing about past events, etc. After so well deserved sleep, we woke up to a very generous feast provided by Dunkin' Donuts. What a nice treat. So now at around 10:30am we were off for day two. Day two: Started off with the Germans occupying the village. at first they were successfully defending the village and even sent out small numbers to out flank us in the woods. JP deftly made his way behind 3 of my comrades and shot them all in the back, fortunately he did not spot me to his right and I got revenge for my fallen brothers! After some regrouping the Partisans organized a pincher attacked and entered the village with a house to house raid. Knife kills were executed as well as tons of safety kills, but the highlight for me was when my fellow Partisan Alexi Kalashnikov (James) threw a grenade into the window of a building occupied by 3 Germans. That was great. Soon after the Partisans controlled the Village. Wave after wave of German attacks were repelled and soon this portion was over. The second to last mission was for the Germans to once again find and capture our weapons cache by high point. We took defensive positions high on the hill and some down below guarding the buildings. A great fire fight ensued and the Partisans held onto their ammo. Finally the Germans fell back to their camp for one final assault. The Partisans sent in wave after wave but the Germans held onto their camp. Once the "game over" was called, we all shared some laughs, pictures and staged videos in the mine field. To personally summarize, I thoroughly enjoyed this event. This had a great flow, constant fire fights with great kills on both sides. There were tons of laughs all around and the usual respectful and honest play everywhere. The fights in the village were some of the best fights I was ever part of and I felt everyone was very mindful of calling the safety kills and being considerate to others. Of course seeing old faces is always a pleasure and something I always look forward to. My son has not stop talking about how many kills he had and how many times he was killed by grenades. And of course we can't forget when he stepped on the landmine. That was great! . All in all, Bravo to Brandon and JP. You guys certainly pulled it off. Migs

lol I was one of those germans that got killed by that famous grenade. We were standing against the wall and I heard yelling, and I saw Nick, Marc, and Tristan starting to run and then I went deaf lol!
I got killed by the one that James threw too. Me and 2 of my friends held up in that house for like 15 minutes atleast and I was eating candy from my bread bag lol. Then conor, josh and me saw the grenade coming through the window and I was like "aww danmit !"
And me and another german put down 2 mines early saturday morning and one of them was the one Dean stepped on lol
This was an awesome event. I'll type up my aar later

Well I have to say that this was a very exciting event! At first I was not sure about how well it would go considering the low numbers of participants, but within the first 5 minutes of combat none of that mattered! We were first met with loud blank fire and a swift invasion of the nearby village. I felt fearful poking around the buildings with my handgun expecting at anytime a kill from an armed citizen, but none occurred. One of my most memorable experiences was the incredible grenade toss made by Joe in the village! I had spotted a partisan behind a pile of wood and alerted the others around me. Nick and I took a few shots at him and then were met with some extremely suppressive fire! Then to my ultimate surprise heard one of the loudest sounds ever in my life! I was not sure what exactly happened, and assumed it was a blank firing Moisin. But then I regained at bit of conciseness and saw half of a smoking grenade on the ground; in which I pieced the together what had happened. At the same time Nick, Mark, another German whose name is slipping my mind, and I all collapsed to the ground as we all decided our fate. And as scary as it was I can admit now that it was actually very fun. That was one heck of a throw Joe! During the night fighting it was very nerve racking to think that the Russians were surrounding our camp, but we could only see half of them as the spotlight would swivel back and forth revealing slight movements within the tress. I remember one point in which Dean silently snuck up on the base; walking right in front of me, and killed four of our soldiers. I was inside a pitch black pit with only my Luger to dispatch of him but was unable to get him the first time because those holsters are so impossible to get your gun out; yet I was able to the second time with a point blank safety kill I also give Brandon a lot of credit for getting me with two knife kills. I do not think it would be too easy to walk around at night without a gun! Bobby and I snuck around into the town and were silently moving in when out of no where I felt a tap and the words "knife kill" only to see him running back into the dark forest, I did not expect that at all! Then during the second day I enjoyed forming the line of Germans approaching the partisan encampment when we heard two loud shots and a wave of partisans rushing down the hill with covering fire. I sat there with my Panzerfaust waiting for the perfect clear shot at one of them; which unfortunately never came. I am impressed with MikeOD for charging my father after the Panzerfaust barely even spit out the rocket due to no CO2; as he advanced my dad had to pull out his side arm but once again since that luger holster is difficult to use he was met high a brave safety kill! Overall I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the look of our German camp with a sturdy building and lots of accessories. I reeeally liked the fact that there were plenty of safety kills because some of them definitely would have hurt, so I commend those who used that approach. I am glad the event was rescheduled and appreciate everyone's help to try and make it work! Tristan

Friday:
Friday evening Josh and I arrived. Everyone was very helpful helping us get our tents setup in the dark. We enjoyed setting up our tent interior and doing a little show and tell of the real period photos, cooking equipment and a couple of crates. Josh had even put some real ww2 playing cards on our makeshift table. If those pictures ever show up, we would really like to get our hands on them!
Saturday:
I had a lot of fun fighting the Russians and the Partisan fighters. They hit us all day long, along multiple flanks. I found them also to be very sporting and all around decent airsoft players.
My favorite moment however during the entire day was the “Mexican” Standoff. I had come around a corner yelling to the enemy fighters, that I had previously spotted, to put their hands up in German. Apparently we didn’t hear each other calls for safety kills. So we stood, guns pointing at each-other until the Russian/Partisans got nervous, and blew me away. I thank them for shooting low in the gut! I hope my dramatic death went appreciated. I want to thank also the blank fire re-enactors that came! I thought the sound of real gunfire repeating with the whistling and snapping of 6mm all around me was very exciting. You guys really helped make the event a lot more fun! In the future, I’d like to see the Germans return the favor and field a few blanks of our own.

I too agree with Tristan's assessment of the safety kills. I have never been to an event where so many took placed. We should all be proud of the sportsmanship and good nature fighting that was displayed.
Think about it, we had lots of single fire kills going on in the village accompanied by grenade kills, but we also had tons of safety kills and KNIFE KILLS. How great was that?!!!
There were truly tons of funny and great moments at this event for my son Dean and I. Thinking about my grenade toss always brings a smile to my face, (especially when I looked to my right and saw a recently killed JP on the ground cracking up) and how Dean added ninja to his repertoire. That kid was everywhere ;D
I will always look back on this event as the one that had great fighting, terrific props, great sportsmanship and lots and lots of fun memories.
Cheers to you all,
Migs

Finally getting some time to continue the aar!
As night fell on the countryside the partisans again mobilized to attack the German camp. The camp was equipped with a very powerful search light that was to be used to help spot any partisans that may be creeping in on the camp. This searchlight would prove invaluable as the partisan fighters assaulted the ost lager. Using small arms and grenades the German forces were again able to secure the safety of their camp.
Following the failed assault on the camp German command decided to launch a raid on the local village in search of a Partisan leader who was willing to cooperate with them. The dimly lit village saw ferocious fighting. At times soldiers fought in hand to hand combat using just knives and grenades to fight their enemies. After taking heavy casualties the Germans pulled back for the night.
As the sun came up over Belarus the Germans moved into the local village to protect their new collaborator. Seeing this move of aggression the Partisan forces in the region struck back at the Germans in order to push them out of the village. At first German defenses held strong but with the heavy use of grenades the Germans were again pushed back out of the village and their collaborator was executed.
After the failure the day before trying to secure the partisan ammo cache German forces again tried to move north to take out communal farm area. At first the attack was going better than expected but it was soon realized to be a ruse by the partisans. Over the hill came a large russian charge headed right for the German forces. This charge was cut down but not before it inflicted heavy casualties on the German forces. Even with these casualties the Germans pushed on on to finally be routed back to their camp.
Seeing the Germans on the run the partisans took this time to again hit the camp in hopes to finally force the Germans out of the area. Heavy fighting took place but with the use of machine guns and small arms fire the attack was driven back. Even though their anti partisan operation did not go as well as planned it was apparent that the Germans were not leaving the area in the near future.
Again I would like to say thanks to all that came. I hope you all enjoyed all the hard work that went into the event!

I woke up near 5:30 saturday morning to get ready and my friend picked me up and we headed down to the field. we got there around 8:00 and we were mostly eating the donuts and acting like noobs. We were called to attention a while later and I didn't have a belt buckle with me so our CO (I think) let me borrow one, and while I was trying to put it on I heard the mosin magant firing at us and I was scared as hell so I just jumped into a trench and hoped they would retreat. I actually don't even think I fired a shot because my k98 was jammed. A little bit later the germans headed into the village and we were looking for the partisans. We were trying not to get them too pissed at us so the ones who weren't partisans didn't become ones. While we were looking through the buildings I was afraid of me turning the corner and having the barrel of a gun in my face but I was glad that didn't happen. Then I tripped over a table and twisted my ankle We didn't find any weapons or documents on any of them so we headed back to base. Me and a couple of my friends went to the table near the parking lot and started eating all the donuts, and for some wierd reason I don't remember what I did after that so I'll skip ahead to when we found out our comrades already went I think to find a weapon cache so we headed to the village to find them. We were moving up the hill the the north of the village and I remember trying to flank two partisans that were further down the hill, but I completely screwed up and then we retreated a little while after that. I think that's when there were around four of us germans in one of the closest buildings, and then a grenade came through the window and killed all four of us. When I was healed I went down the street back to the camp where I think I got a kill, I saw one of the russian partisans running to the villages from the other side of the woods and the first shot I missed completely and the BB bounced off a tree not more than five feet from me... then he crouched down shooting into one of the windows so I took another shot and I think hit him in the arm. I could have shot him again before that actaully but I could only see his head and I didn't want to piss him off. Anyway I saw him lay down (or he was going prone) and I couldn't see him anymore. Then upstairs on the first building into the village I saw a partisan with a m1928 thompson aiming at me so I ran like hell back to that wierd puddle thing in the road. He missed me the first few shots and I swear right before I was going to take cover behind behind a piece of fence he shot me right in the back of the head lol. So I pretented to fall foreward onto my face and layed there dead. Now I was 0-2 and I continued to suck through that whole battle . I saw the exact same partisan running toward the building I was in a few minutes later and I was trying to get to the window to safety kill him before he came in, but I guess I was too stupid to realize he went through the other door to the side and he ended up safety killing me lol 0-3! I have to say that was a good kill though he scared the crap out of me because I didn't hear him untill he yelled the safety kill. Then I was covering our CO and two others whose names I don't remember as they advanced onto the partisans. Once they moved down the street I was being fired at from a ppsh41 and I retreated. Then one of the best parts of the event, I kept firing onto the two russians when I just ran like hell out of there. I met up with nick near that famous building and he was shooting at a partisan down the street, and marc and tristan came from around the corner. We were all looking down the path and then I saw that grenade and we all started to run but too danm late lol. That was a great kill, I didn't have a clue where it came from at first I actually thought a partisan dropped it through the window but it seemed like it just appeared there. Thank God soon after that we went back to base because I was 0-4! Maybe 1-4 but don't know if I got that earlier kill with the partisan in the woods. It was starting to get dark and again the partisans attacked the german base. I was around the left side of the camp with my friend conor and we couldn't even stick our heads up because that side of the camp was getting hit so hard. Then I went over to a row of sandbags where my friend josh was and I was hoping that it wasn't as bad over there because I still hadn't gotten a single kill (but 4 deaths) up untill then. I fired off maybe 5 rounds untill a bb jammed in the barrel of my kar98.(don't buy cybergun artic bio bbs) This was the 4th time that day the gun jammed because of them. Anyway I moved again this time to the ridge where there was another row of sandbags were nick was. That's when I found out my gun was jammed so I ran into the HQ and grabbed my s&w revolver and fired at the russians. A bit later dean stepped onto a mine that me and marc buried over there during the morning and that might have been my first kill but I think he was already hit. I am going to count it anyway because I was sucking so bad lol Now that I was 1-4 I was feeling a little better, and there was another attack on our camp later that night but I will finish off tomorrow because I am too tired and ate too much to finish it now lol Now the next morning we went to the village to protect an ex partisan collaborator. I didn't see any russians during the first 10 minutes but when I went across the down I was scared as hell because not 20 feet from me there were like 5 of them. So I went into a building at the side of the village and I was in there for like 15 minutes atleast with conor and josh. We were running through the doorway to get to the other side like 3 times and toward the end of the battle josh was hit and I ran across the hallway. Then a partisan walked through the doorway and I got a safety kill. I almost got another one but I guess you need to be facing toward him and not blindly around the corner. A little while after that a grenade came threw the window and I knew we were done. It actually took like 5 seconds to explode so I didn't know if I should try to throw it back out but with my luck it would explode in my hand. The germans attacked the partisans near the other village in the middle of nowhere, and we formed a line and went up the hill. I was hiding behind a tree and two partisans were coming on either side and I got shot in my hand. The last battle was when the partisans attacked the german camp for like the 4th time. First 3 of them walked into our base with a white flag and then they started fighting eachother. I was watching the ridge because I knew they were going to be there in a second. I was in the trench for around 10 minutes and we were shooting at the partisans on the hill. Then further down the trench the mayor of Belarus and a partisan stabbed the german next to me. Then they ran to me and I safety killed one of them but the other threw his knife at my foot and killed me lol. Out of all the Vietnam and WWII events I went since to I started a couple years ago, this was the best one. The battles were awesome, and I was surprised how many safety kills there were and alot of those would have really hurt being that close. Everyone played very fair too everyone called their hits and there were tons of grenade kills(I died 3 times from them lol) I give the event a 10\10. I hope to see you all in January for Battle of the Bulge
