I see in multiple Airsoft Mg's, the tube to feed the bbs into the hopup is some sort of long spring, but i could never find out a specific name or where i could accuire such a device. Can anyone help?

It's a McMaster-Carr 5/16's spring. They will cut it to legnth for you, but I think 3' is the minimum.

These feed tube springs are a GOD send and defy believe they provide seamless feeding even with the route makes fairly extreme turns. I use clear tubing to provide an insert or to connect two sections. Obviously whatever means you use to drive the BBs has to have adequate power and you often have to wait initially while the tubes are primed and filled with BBs but the cool thing is you visually see if the tube is filled and see the BBs filling through the spring.

i was thinking of having one be fed through resin dummy ammunition, with the last round being a 90 degree bend and the spring loaded stopper on it like a regular magazine does. This would go into the feed tray of a machine gun and upon closing the lid, would force the feed belt over a hop up tube that was turned 180 degrees. This would falicitate the quick removal and fitting of an already wound ammo box and also require an assistant gunner for more realism.
I was also pondering the possibility of using a long sectiono of the feed tube in say, a length of 100 dummy rounds, that would be a stand alone midcap magazine for an mg! Best of all it could be carried over the shoulder, or anywhere and look and function almost like the real thing! Only problem is finding a way to get a long enough compression spring to feed the bbs.
Ai'nt I just chock full o' ideas! ;D

It has been done and shown on a how to segment regarding a demilled MG 42. Sorry, but I cannot remember the link. I don't think the spring will fit thru the dummy ammo. It's going to be a bit too big, but it has been run thru a black tube to discuise it and then attached under the dummy ammo. Also, the wiring to operate the electric motor in the ammo can was run thru the tube or alongside it. I'm sure some of the guys on here can direct you to the thread. Good luck with your build.
