Who would wear Ike jackets in the ETO? I received one as a birthday present from my not so WW2 savvy parents. ;D Can anyone explain? thanks!

Anyone care to shed some light on said subject? I hope to use it for my dress uniform for my 101st AB impression. Currently the Jacket has an ETO Communications Patch and several small citations above the right breast pocket.

Absolutely. The Ike jacket became very popular with US troops as Eisenhower adopted it to show unity with the british and canadian troops under his command. initially they were cut down and tailored versions of the four pocket wool tunic but later versions were designed and made as "IKE" jackets right from the get go. In the Holland jump many paratroopers wore them and the wool trousers under their jump suits thinking victory was readily at hand. soldiers would typically have a set in thir duffle bag regardless to have on hand for leave or passes.
