What is the difference between the pioneer and lifchik other than visually? What I mean is were they used by separate Soviet units?

The Lifchik came out right around the end of Soviet involvement in Afghanistan , it is a pain in the ass to put it on and it has to be empty in order to do so , after you put the damn thing on you load up the mags in the pouches , then you adjust the back strap. The M23 Pioneer is kinda of an improvement on the Lifchik rig , another mag pouch was added , plus pistol mag pouches and small utility pouch on the Left side , fast release buckles where added to the back and shoulder straps in order to make it easier to put on and take off.

Those are very cool indeed mate.
If you made some custom repro 58 pattern webbing with drop belt atachments as the SAS used you'd make a killing, originals go for a fortune on ebay.

Thanks guys. The rigs i made myself from scratch, the SEAL rig and Lifchik i made using a couple of Duffel bags i had laying around, the Pioneer i found some Cordura fabric of the right shade of Green. Wife was pissed when i used her high tech sewing machine to sew up heavy canvas, so she went out the next day and bought me a heavy duty sewing machine

Very good work! I am making crushers now, but still have a lot to learn.
